McGill, Justin Steven

With broken hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved son, Justin Steven McGill, on Monday, February 23, 2026 in Thornbury, Ontario at the age of 44.

Justin was a passionate and talented young man who lived life with energy, determination, and creativity.

He played Rep Hockey and had a deep love for sports. Whether on the ice or the volleyball court, he gave his all and inspired those around him with his competitive spirit and team loyalty. He loved to golf, finding both challenge and peace on the course. Some of his happiest moments were spent enjoying the game, the camaraderie, and the quiet focus it brought him.

Music was another of Justin’s many gifts. He played both the keyboard and the guitar, filling our home and the lives of others with his talent. He had a wonderfully dry sense of humor that caught you off guard and left you smiling long after.

Justin was an entrepreneur. He created his own web design business and built it into a very successful venture through hard work, vision and creativity. He had an eye for photography. He took great pride in what he built, and his dedication was evident. Sadly, illness overtook his body, but it never diminished his spirit.

He was kind-hearted and deeply caring toward anyone fortunate enough to be around him. Justin had a creative mind, a generous soul, and a presence that brought joy to family and friends.

Justin will be dearly missed by his loving parents, Debra and Steve, his brother Benjamin, Ben’s partner Amanda, and his cherished niece Aubrey. His memory will live on in the laughter he shared, the music he played, the games he played, and the love he gave so freely.

Justin will be forever in our hearts.

Steve and Deb, Mary and I are very sorry to hear of Justin’s death. We have memories of Justin and Ben looking after the kids on various occasions and he was a very conscientious young man. I spoke with him last at our friend Cam’s funeral and he said he was doing well and enjoying the Thornbury area. Our sympathies to you both as well as to Ben and his family on this loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with you both at this difficult time.

What a devastating loss. My heart goes out to Debra, Steve, Ben, and all who knew and loved Justin. I had just reconnected with him after many years and reached out a few times since. I really wish I could have made more of a difference. It feels like he just slipped through my fingers.

Years ago, when he was in London for school, he mentioned how much he liked the song One Thing by Finger Eleven. That song has been playing a lot at my house over the past week as I reflect on his life and the memories we shared. It’s a reminder of the things that truly matter, and his passing has inspired me to be more present and make a greater impact in the lives of those around me.

Justin’s memory will certainly inspire me to do better.

Steve and Deb, Henry let me know that Justin had passed, so sorry. While I didn’t know Justin all that long I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with him on the golf course. I will always remember him inviting me to play with him at Chi Chi Rodriquez course in Dunnedin – not with you Steve, just the two of us ! And then me having trouble finding your place and Justin jumping on his bike to chase me down. He was every bit as good a ‘kid’ as Henry had told me. Sending you both my best wishes as you work through your loss. Hope to see you this spring, Kevin
