Smith, Elsie Edna
Elsie Edna Smith passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Listowel at the age of 88.
She is survived by and remembered fondly by her children; Sandra (Ray) Beisel, Debbie Kiss (Siggy), Michael (Janice) George.
Elsie will be deeply missed by her grandchildren; Thomas (Melissa) Beisel, Shannon (David) Grist, Brandon Kiss, Adam (Vera) George, Matt (Jehn) George, Ashlynn (Dylan) McLeod, Core (Kelsey) George, and her 16 Great Grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Smith, as well as her brothers’ Jim, Ken, and Barry and sister, Louella.
Once Elsie retired from the Bennett Health Care Centre in Georgetown, she moved to Meaford where she spent many years before eventually moving from Meaford to Listowel leaving behind many friends.
She loved walking and playing cards, as well as enjoying the occasional trip to the casino.
A private family service will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.

Terry and l were saddened to her of Elsie’s passing. She liked visitors and loved a little chit chat. When Terry and l dropped into see her, she and Terry talked about the good old days and shared memories. She will be missed. God bless her. Lynda and Terry Galbraith.

Elsie was a good friend. She definitely loved to play cards. When Elsie left Meaford I had less contact with her except via phone calls. Rest in peace Elsie.
