Rawn, Theresa Marie

Theresa was born on October 10, 1953, in Markdale, Ontario, attended elementary school in Chatsworth, high school in Hanover and took university courses at Waterloo. In her career she constantly embraced new experiences and opportunities. In her early years she worked in administration and sales and progressed to owning and operating her own antique store.   She briefly joined the Canadian military, worked for various municipalities, for Canada Post and Elections Canada.  She then became a licensed insurance agent and was able to wind down her working life by her late 40’s.      

While Theresa experienced many different chapters in her life, her greatest source of happiness was always her family and friends. She was, at heart, a family-first person.   She enjoyed researching family history, attending family reunions and visiting her own family at every opportunity she could. Family connections were deeply important to Theresa, and she took great pride in maintaining those connections and bringing people together.

Theresa enjoyed travelling, visiting the U.S., Europe, the Bahamas and even China in her later years.  She often reminisced about places she visited and the experiences of meeting new people.  She was also an avid reader and had a genuine curiosity about the world around her. She made a point of keeping up with politics, world events and the issues of the day so that she could form her own opinions and have meaningful conversations with others.

Above all else, Theresa’s greatest joy was being a mother. She was devoted to her two sons, Chad Rawn, and Patrick Rawn who she raised just south of Owen Sound. Apart from being proud of their academic accomplishments, some of her happiest memories were made at ballparks and fields across Ontario, where she proudly supported and cheered their performances at fastpitch softball.  Her love of the game continued into the next generation. Theresa was a proud grandmother to Jesse Rawn, Colton Rawn, Brandon Rawn, Jordan Rawn and Taylor Rawn, and she loved nothing more than watching her grandsons play baseball. Even in her final years, when she could no longer attend games in person, she avidly watched all of their games online.  She was a devoted and proud grandmother.

Theresa will be remembered for her deep love of family, and, most of all, for the unwavering love she gave to her children and grandchildren. Her place in the stands may now be empty, but the love and memories she created there continues.

Theresa is survived by her sons Chad Rawn (and his spouse Sha Song), and Patrick Rawn (and his spouse Crystal Rawn); and her five (5) grandchildren Jesse, Colton, Brandon, Jordan and Taylor, as well as by her brother, Spencer and her sister Joanne.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.  Her greatest legacy was her family, and she will forever remain a part of theirs.

A celebration of Theresa’s life will take place in the near future at a date to be announced soon.
