Edey, Beverley Anne

It is with immense sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Beverley (nee Lovatt) Edey at her home in Meaford on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.

Beverley was a trailblazer in the lumber industry spanning over 40 years. Born and raised in the small town of Meaford, a daughter of the late Darley and Pauline (nee Randle) Lovatt, she became the first female manager of a Beaver Lumber store in all of Canada.  In recognition of her achievements in this industry, including becoming the first female Director to sit on the board of the Lumber and Building Material Association of Ontario, Bev was awarded the LBMAO lifetime achievement award in 2015.

Bev shared her passion of reading by actively participating in the Friends of the Library in Meaford which supports the local library and promotes the advantages of reading.   In her earlier years she participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada which mentors young adults to get involved in their community to create connections and friendships through outings and activities.  Her strong will and dedication to her career and passions allowed her to push through personal health challenges.  Bev continued to go to work with a smile, always putting her customers first, and thus created a lasting impression with anyone with whom she interacted.  Bev is survived by her devoted husband Lynn, her children Sarah and Samantha, and her beloved grandchildren Luke and Liam.  She will be remembered as a loving mother-in-law by her sons Patrick Charlebois and Top Wattanapaiboonsuk.  She was a dear sister of Bonnie and Joe Hawlik of London and Trudy Smith of Niagara Falls and will be greatly missed by her nephews Chris, Cam, Michael, Steve, Scott, Jason and their families.

Bev’s family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E. in Meaford on Saturday November 2, 2019 from 3 until 6 p.m.   A funeral service will be conducted at Christ Church Anglican in Meaford on Sunday afternoon November 3rd at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, as your expression of sympathy, the family wishes to direct donations to the Beverley Edey Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home at www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca or the LBMAO who will administer the fund.

    Lynn, Sarah, Samantha and families,
We just heard of Bev’s passing today and we are still in a state of shock and so very sad. Had we known, we certainly would have attended visitation and Bev’s memorial service. I’ve known Bev for most of my life. She was a very strong woman but I know she was in dreadful pain every day and it was a testament to her strength that she managed to remain an active and valuable employee, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Please accept our deepest sympathies on your great loss. We pray that you will find peace in the knowledge that she is no longer suffering and in all your treasured memories.
