Gobbo, Albert Jordan

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the peaceful passing of my husband, Albert Gobbo, on Monday, December 29, 2025.

Albert was born on January 31, 1939 in Verona, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1952 with his brother and mother.

Albert was a Registered Denture Technician.  He and his brother Flavio Gobbo had a partnership and owned Dental Prosthetics Laboratory.  Later as a Registered Denture Therapist he had practices in Toronto and Thornbury.  Albert was known for his skill and dedication, bringing smiles to countless faces.  He was an outdoor enthusiast and found relaxation in sailing, diving, skiing, tennis, kayaking and hiking.  Albert had a great desire to travel and experience many different landscapes and cultures.

Albert will be missed dearly by his wife of 45 years, Linda Gobbo; his sister-in-law Isabella Gobbo, brothers-in-law Paul McCarthy (Karen), Brian McCarthy and Michael O’Brien (Joan).

He was predeceased by his mother, Maria Lonardi Gobbo, his brother Flavio and sister-in-law Janice McCarthy.  Albert will be remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.

The family is very appreciative of the care and support received from Dr. M. Newton of Brightshores, VON, and Ontario Home Health.

As per Albert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

David and I are are heartbroken at Albert’s passing.

We first met Albert and Linda in 2013 when we moved to Meaford, and they quickly became more than just neighbours—they became dear friends. To know Albert was to know a kind and gentle man with a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor.

We are holding onto so many fond memories—quiet summer afternoons sharing a glass of wine and the joy of spending Christmases and New Years together. We (and the whole neighborhood!) will never forget his skill at the griddle during our July 1st pancake breakfasts.

He will be so dearly missed. Our hearts go out to Linda and the family.

With all our love, David and Kathy McNamara”

    Dear Linda,
It was by chance we became neighbours, but by grace we became friends. Albert generously shared stories with us on his love for his family and his adventures with sailing. He passed along gardening tips which were helpful to us. We will miss him dearly. Sincerely, Gord and Marie Bailey

    Dear Linda.

David and I are very sorry to hear of the passing of Albert. This past year has been a struggle for him. We initially met through functions at the Meaford Hospital and then so fortunate to live in the same neighbourhood. We truly enjoyed our street visits. Chats with Albert were always interesting and fun. He was always interested in what was happening in our family. I remember a dinner party at your house and he had made the most delicious dessert. Linda cherish your memories and I will always remember the love and admiration he showed for you. Love David and Muriel

    Dear Linda,
Wes and I are so sorry to learn of the passing of your dear Albert. He put up a good fight! You (and your little dog ) will miss him dearly. We offer you our sincere condolences.
Though we had met Albert at church, we got to know him much better through Tai Chi, at the classes in Thornbury and in Meaford. He was very dedicated, but lots of fun. He always had some funny story or comment to make us laugh!
    Thinking of you,
    Wes and Fionnuala Sparling

I just heard from Larry Gaudhouse of Albert’s passing. My condolences to you and family. Although it’s been many years since we last saw each other it seems like yesterday. I hold many fond memories of Albert and yourself and our days of skiing ⛷️ in Collingwood. Albert was clearly a gift to many as he was to you. Wishing you well in the days ahead. Regards Ed Connors

    Linda,
I am so very sorry for the loss of Albert. I will always remember his great smile, laugh, and contagious positive attitude. I never saw him sad or angry and he seemed to always enjoy life. Most of all, I always saw how much he loved you and how perfect you two were for each other. I have so many great memories, all throughout my childhood, of visiting your house and spending time with you both. I’m glad he was able to meet my boys and I was able to capture some pictures of them with him. I just wish we were all able to spend more time together. I think about you daily and truly hope you are getting through each day, knowing he is in a much better place and no longer in pain. We hope to see you soon but until then, all of us are sending all of our love to you!
    Love,
    Lauren, Kris, Jackson and Wyatt

Dear Linda, so very sorry for your loss. Fulvio Anna Denise and I often talked about you accompanying zio Alberto during the most painfully difficult phase of his journey.

We’ve known Alberto since 1967 when Fulvio and I came to Canada and the Lonardi-Gobbo family warmly and generously adopted us, making the transition into this country much easier. Together we walked through good times, weddings , christenings, holidays, lots of laughter, Christmases , and bad times illnesses, deaths and sorrows.
Alberto has been a constant presence to all of that with his easy smile his great sense of humour, his encouragements in dark moments: Alberto always saw the positive sides of events, the good intention in people: a peace maker.
We ll miss you dear friend and brother, dear zio Alberto, arrivederci

Albert was much more than a brother-in-law to me. He quickly became a dear friend and source of strength to our whole family. From our road trip across to the country, to a week at sea with me in my ship, and frequent visits with my wife and kids, he remained a special person in our lives. His gentle spirit, and mischievous habit of drawing seemingly unsociable strangers into friendly banter, were a testament to his love of life. I could not have hoped for a more devoted husband to Linda, and to all his extended family.

I know of no-one who was not a better person for knowing Albert and being won over by his infinitely kind and caring spirit. I will always miss him.

    Dear Linda,

I am truly sorry to hear of Albi’s passing. Wishing to find the words of support at this time all seem inadequate.

Of all the wonderful people Albi is at the very top of my list. He was truly a gentle giant in his approach to life, caring, positive attitude & being the very special person he was.

His smile was contagious, kindness & intuition to know how to support others truly made him a stellar individual.

I remember his love for you was a precious gift. One I hope will sustain you in the difficult days ahead. You two were so wonderful together. May the happy memories become even stronger as time passes & is a cherished aspect of life for the future.

I have always thought warmly of Albi & the experiences shared with the two of you. Since receiving the sad news from Larry those thoughts have become more powerful & will continue to be cherished memories.

My memories of you Linda are ones of strength & kindness. May that strength help you now & the kindness you have shown to others be self directed.

I am so very sorry for your loss & that of a wonderful man who will be missed by many others.

    Barbara
