Yeadell, Annie Elizabeth 'Anne'

Anne passed peacefully in her sleep at Central Place in Owen Sound on Friday, September 1st, 2023 in her 100th year.

Born in St. Vincent Township on January 7, 1924, a daughter of the late Annie Elizabeth Free and William Ford.

Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry Yeadell, in 2016.

She was the devoted mother of Laurie Yeadell of Alberta and Myrna Young (Lorne Henry) of Owen Sound.

Anne was predeceased by her siblings; Edith Ford, Fred Ford, Frank Ford, Mel Ford, Jim Ford, Elsie Caesar, Cecil Ford, and will be remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Anne farmed happily by her husband’s side in the Rocklyn area for 40 years. She liked to keep busy and knitting socks for others was one of her favourite pastimes. Anne and Harry spent many years camping with the Gypsy Campers and travelling around enjoying entertainment; they loved music and dancing. For 25 years, during the colder months, they would go south to Florida. Church was very important to Anne, and she loved catching up with family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11 o’clock with visiting the hour prior to service.  A service of committal and interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.

Sorry all for the loss of a family person, and a great baker too,
I believe she made the best strawberry/ rhubarb pie and lemon pie. I recall I would ride my bicycle out to farm.
Our condolences to all. Murray, Sandra & Boys (Men)

My parents Murray and Lois Sewell shared many happy times with Anne and Harry while they were all busy farmers in the Temple Hill area. In later years Mom and Anne remained very close friends and enjoyed telephone calls which helped both of them endure the isolation of covid and the challenges of living a long life. My sympathy to all her family and friends.

Anne was always part of my childhood. She babysat me, she made delicious homemade goodies (especially at Halloween), she made me variegated socks and shushed Harry when he tried to teach me inappropriate limericks. I can still hear her singing at church and laughing at the Rocklyn Fall Fair…

      She will be missed.

Dear Myrna and Laurie–I have so many memories of times spent with your family from 4-H, to Young Peoples and Church fun, dances and going to Meaford on Friday nights!! I echo Marilyn’s sentiments on how Mom and Anne spent many hours on the phone over the last several years. It was such a comfort to both of them. Your Dad–Harry– was always so good to visit with our Dad when he was in the Nursing Home in Meaford and I had many fine conversations with him there too. Our sympathies are with you–Anne lived a great life and you will have many wonderful times to reflect upon over the next days & weeks ahead and as each anniversary rolls around. Debbie (Sewell) Vogl

    Laurie, Myrna and Families
Many fond memories of working for your parents on the farm when I was a young lad making them mentors in my life. Dad always talked about growing up with your Mom as part of the neighbour kids and then many years later our parents all being part of the Gypsy Campers, times that they all enjoyed. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Laurie, Myrna and Families: So sorry to hear of Anne’s passing. Anne and Harry were such great friends of Brian’s Mom and Dad over decades of life events, like camping and dances, just to name a few!
I remember Anne as a happy go lucky soul, always sharing a smile and friendly conversation.
I especially remember one time when we were camping with the Gypsy Campers, and everyone had gone back into their campers to prepare their dinners. A short while later, Anne stuck her head out their camper door and yelled out – “Harry, the peas are cooked”, which I’m sure the whole campsite heard! It was just one of the many happy occasions we spent with Harry and Anne.
My loving thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Blessings, Pearl Bumstead
