Boivin, Antoinette 'Toni'

It is with a sad heart that we announce that Antoinette ‘Toni’ Boivin passed away peacefully in her 85th year with family and friends by her side, after a fall and a short stay in hospital.

Toni loved her life in Meaford, her friends and family, and her adored Rough Collie Abby.  Her many activities with friends included bowling, get-togethers for shared meals, playing cards and completing puzzles of all kinds. She travelled extensively with her dear friends Anita, Kevin and Jack, and saw so much of the world.  Meeting friends in Orillia, and then making the trip to a nearby casino was always a special treat.  Gardening and cooking were two more of Toni’s passions, and following her  retirement to Meaford 21 years ago, she was able to fully enjoy these hobbies.  Toni will be remembered by her son Chris as a kind, loving and selfless mother.

Toni is survived by her son Christopher, his wife Mary Pat, and their three children, Madison, Connor and Rowan.  She was predeceased by her brother, Peter Mattiasso.  She will be greatly missed by her dear sister-in-law Helen, and her two nephews Michael and Peter.

A special and heartfelt thank you goes out to the doctors and nurses at the Meaford Hospital for the exceptional care given to Toni.

At her request, there will be no formal visitation or service.  Toni’s ashes will be scattered at her place of choice at a later date.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter or the Meaford Hospital Foundation would be appreciated, and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON, N4L 1B9, to whom arrangements have been entrusted.  www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

So sorry to hear Chris, Mary Pat and kids. Much like Chris, Toni was always very hardworking. As Chris’ friend who “liked sports” Toni would take me to Blue jays games when she had tickets and Chris did not want to go (which was frequently). Toni would make sure I knew if it was giveaway day (free seat cushion, blue jays hat, bobble head day) that I could go but Chris got the giveaway. I was always happy with that deal. She will be missed.

Thinking of you all at this difficult time. Toni was pretty awesome. We have plenty of memories of gathering in Brampton, and Meaford. Toni graced us all with her caring soul, love of gardening, animals and delicious cooking.
