Art Docherty passed away at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Saturday, September 19, 2020 in his 86th year.

He was born in Toronto on October 28, 1934 to parents Hugh and Olive (nee James) Docherty and spent his favourite years in Meaford.

As for his wishes, Art will be cremated and there will be no service.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Meaford Long Term Care Centre for all of their loving care, understanding and support. As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Meaford Nursing Home Auxiliary (cheques only please) would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.   www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

    Our condolences Shirley…

Art was a hard worker, and often spoke highly of you and his sons.
He was so smart, had very good taste (he hired me! LoL)

I still remember the day that Bill Rumley, Art, and I got talking about our dads, and ALL of our dads birthdays were January 25th. What a coincidence! We had a good chuckle about that.

    CRAZY how time flies…

    He will be missed.

So sorry to hear this news Shirley. He will be missed by many. Art was the absolute best boss! He would write 15 or 20 pages of lined information, then tape them together and ask me to type them up. Loved him dearly and I have very fond memories of my days at Grey County Board working with him. May you and your family find peace in similar thoughts and times.

Sending my deepest condolences Shirley and Family.

Art will be dearly missed. He was a very intelligent and well read man. I worked for Art in the computer department, which he started up, with the former Grey County Board of Education. I have a lot of very fond memories of working in the department.

    So sorry for your loss,
