Wickman-Petersen-Dineen, Bente

May 29, 1939 - November 26, 2023

Bente left us at the Meaford General Hospital on November 26th after a short period of illness to join her beloved parents Linnea and Axel and older sister Grete.

Bente is survived by her loving partner Paul, her daughters Dorte, Christina and son in law Kenny.

She was a loving grandmother to Linnea (Mark), Ian, Kia (Cam), Annika (Daniel), Magnus (Megan).

Bente was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and immigrated to Canada in 1966. She lived most of her life in Meaford and so enjoyed the harbour and all the nature around her.  Bente was a gifted artist and over her lifetime worked in many different mediums. Perhaps her greatest body of work was the oil paintings she painted of Georgian Bay and her travels.

A cozy celebration of life will be held at a future date when all her loved ones can join together to honor her joyfully.

The incredible care she received while in Meaford Hospital allowed us to say goodbye in such a peaceful, dignified and loving way.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Meaford Hospital Foundation would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON   N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.   www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

We were so shocked to see Bente’s obituary as we had seen her recently. Bente was such a lovely woman and we always enjoyed our visits with her. We have known her for many years. I commissioned her to do a painting of our home as a gift for Quentin and we will cherish it.

Dorte and Christina, we met your Mom quite often on our walks at the Cemetery. When your family lived across the road from us on the 11th Line she always held a special place with her beautiful smile and quiet grace. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Hi Paul, I have known Bente for many years through art shows and a long friendship. It is with great sadness to learn she has passed away. I have been thinking about her so much of late. I talked to Bente when Ruth passed away, and from the sound of her voice knew she was not well.
I am so very glad she had you in her life, these last years. She certainly deserved the happiness she knew with you Paul. Sincere sympathy in your loss. from Dorothy Anderson

Bente was a most beautiful gift to my life. We met by chance at the waters edge and we clicked as instant pals. Bente’s gentle spirit and her amazing artistic abilites were so special to learn about as the years passed. Our mutual love of Lee Ogg also keep us laughing and sharing so much fun with her and other people of like minds. I treasure knowing Bente and she will be always remembered with love.

    Dear Paul, Christina and Dorte
I am so sorry to find out, that Bente passed away i november.
I have known Bente all my life. I was a 9 year old girl when she left Denmark and moved to Canada.
She was a friend of my parents Inger and Bjoern Storgaard(later Vilhelmsen), and also of my uncle Bent Dittmer.
I visited Bente and family back in the summer 1974. And I revisited her in the summer of 1993 together with my 9 year old son. I remember she served us rugbrød and homemade remoulade.
Since christmas 2020 I have had a penpalcontact with Bente. And in my last letter, which she never recieved, I told her how much it meant to me, to have this contact.
She was always positive and caring.
Paul – you are in my thoughts, and I am glad to know, that you and Bente had some years filled with love and togetherness. Too bad it lastet too short.
My deepest condoences to you all.
