Moore, Betty Marie

Long time Beaver Valley resident, Betty Moore of Ravenna, passed away peacefully at the Maple View Nursing Home in Owen Sound on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the age of 84.

Born in Collingwood, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Florence (nee Wiseman) Stephens.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband Vernon Moore in May of 2017.

She was the much loved mother of Karen Fair and her husband Steven of Ripley, and Barry Moore of Clinton Township, Michigan.

She is the sadly missed grandmother and great grandmother of Mark Cronin and his wife Lisa of Heathcote and their children Rhett and Tahlia, and grandson Paul Cronin and his wife Tracey of Milton and their daughter Jillian. She will be recalled fondly also by Steven’s children Jaqui Fair and her partner Dave Belyea of Calgary, Kayla Fair of Walkerton, and Cory Fair and his partner Kate-Lynn Skinner of Teeswater.

Betty will be remembered as a dear sister of Murray and Ilene Stephens of Waterloo and Shirley and John Harrison of Orillia. She was predeceased by her brother Jack Stephens (late Ilene) of Ingelwood, sister Madeline (late Ray) McCallum of Clarksburg, and sister-in-law Iona (late Harvey) Park of Thornbury.  She was a special aunt to her many nieces, nephews and their families.

Betty will be remembered for always being a gracious host, and nobody ever left her home hungry. She enjoyed gardening, camping and helping her husband with any projects he had on the go at the farm or with the Beaver Valley Pipe Band or Ontario Massed Pipes and Drums.  They enjoyed travelling and saw the world together.  Vernon and Betty were inseparable.

    Dear Moore Family
We were saddened to hear of Betty’s passing. Betty and Vern were some of the many friends we made when we moved to Ravenna in 1974. We remember how Vern and the Beaver Valley Pipe Band used to practice at the old Orange Hall just across the road from the store, and sometimes paraded down the road after their practice. We also remember Vern leading a troop of shivaree-ers when we moved to our present home in Clarksburg in 1985. We were also privileged to have Vern play the pipes at our daughter Susan’s wedding in 1988. Happy memories indeed!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
    Sincerely, Joan and Norm Haldane
