Brad was the most caring, welcoming, warm-hearted and loving man I’ve known. Being in his presence meant being around calm and joy. Always ready to offer you a beer or a bite to eat and a bed to sleep in. Love you Brad. Your legacy will live on in all of our hearts.

Uncle Brad, it took me until my 20’s to realize you weren’t my uncle by blood. Thank you for being the wonderfully calm and creative and car-obsessed presence in my life that you were. Your influence has only become more clear in the last few days. I will continue with our obsession in a Hawaiian shirt, whenever possible. So lucky to have seen you as much as I did these past few years. Hope to meet you down in Morocco again one day, maybe we can ride the Sahara on dirt bikes, in our 20s, without back pain. Love you miss you

A great pleasure of returning to Isla Plana after Christmas was to see you and Mary sitting outside El Ancla bar in the sun on your annual early-year “snowbird” visit to Spain. Under that wonderful hat you exuded warmth, gentleness, fun, interest and an aura of peace. You were one of the world’s nice guys and we will miss you.

Loved knowing Brad these past nine years. So sweet and soft spoken and always took such great care of us gals. He could whip us up appetizers on a whim and made the best guacamole. Great times sharing beer and ice cream at music in the park. I’m so blessed to have a signed piece of his art to treasure.

Wolfgang and I still can’t believe that we’ll never be able to welcome Brad back to Isla Plana again. I still get teary-eyed when I realize this.
But at the same time, I smile when I think of Brad—his hearty laugh, his kindness, his gentle nature, his generosity.
Mary, I can very well imagine what you’ve lost and what you’ll always miss.
I have a picture in my mind of him standing at the railing for quite a while during his last days in Isla Plana, looking out at the sea. I think that’s where he said goodbye and took in the view one last time.
When we’re in Isla Plana next season, we’ll miss him every single day.

Thanks to Brad and Mary i had two great summers in Canada and thanks to Mary I met her magic one of a kind hubbie Brad and had many an adventure on the lakes and in the City. Zooming through the streets in a Verona or happily cruising in a Beatle, Brad was simply the best and full of fun. So sad Brad is no longer here to deliver that magic smile, only matched with his kind, open loving ways but he’s one of those people who doesn’t leave, he has a wee corner of your heart forever. X x

Dear dear Brad, we will so miss your warm smile, and big hugs that we were so lucky to get over the years. And what will we do now without your famous guacamole and goodie bag of mixed nuts. I still think you put extra M &M’s in mine .
“Ní bheidh a leitheid arís ann”
This is an old Irish saying that is often used, but it could not be more apt than with Brad.

We were so fortunate to have known Brad.

His infectious smile, generosity and his passion for fixing and rebuilding cars – and helping anyone who needed it – made life better for all of us. With his bravery, quick wit and good-time vibe, Brad turned garages into gathering spots (tiki bar) and ordinary days into good ones.

He’ll be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Rest in peace, dear, sweet Brad.

Brad was a very unique character. His quiet personality said so much! His thoughtfulness, calmness and his love for life is a tribute to him. He never sought attention but was often the centre of it. It’s only a month ago since we were sipping the Mediterranean sun together at a gathering in Isla Plana (Spain). I wish Brad all the best. I also offer Mary my sincerest condolences and look forward to toasting Brad in Isla Plana in the future.

“Brad, my silver-toothed cousin who stretched fifteen cents at the X all day, you’re woven into my happiest cottage memories with aunts, uncles, cousins, and Grandma. You watched over me like a big brother when my family uprooted to Toronto and I suddenly became an only child. Our travels, outdoor festivals, Halloween parties, your love of cars, and that spicy Irish girl are all part of the memories I’II carry forever.
Love you cousin. Miss you already.

Mary, I am so sad to hear about Brad, you both welcomed me into your house when I was 19 as a friend of your cousins and thought me so much about kindness, love and fun! I always think of Bran when there is a full moon and imagine him howling out the window for all to hear! His salsa recipe I make most weeks!! He was such a beautiful man and I know how much you both loved each other. Sending you love, Tara.
