Genereaux, Carolyn Marion
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Carolyn Marion Genereaux, born October 15, 1958, in Meaford, a daughter of the late Cecil and Alison (nee Smith) Laycock. Carolyn passed away on July 29, 2024 at Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound at the age of 65, after a brief illness.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband William (Bill) Genereaux in 2011.
Carolyn was the loving and amazing mother of Lindsay (Jeff) Schmitz. She was the much-loved grandmother ‘Gigi’ of Logan Schmitz.
She is survived by her brothers David (Susan), Murray (Marie) and Sandra (Jim). She was predeceased by her brother Dennis (Josie) and sister Barbara (Dunc). She will be missed greatly by her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Carolyn was born and raised in Meaford. She attended Meaford Community School and Georgian Bay Secondary School. She met Bill on the steps going to the Cafeteria at GBSS when she was in 9th grade. After high school Bill and Carolyn moved to Kitchener and raised their daughter Lindsay there. They moved back to Meaford in 1997 and lived in town until Bill passed away in 2011. After that Carolyn moved back to Kitchener to live with Lindsay, Jeff and Logan. Carolyn and her family had just moved back to Meaford in 2024.
Carolyn loved summer and spent all of her time outside soaking up the sunshine and warm weather. You could always find her either in her flower beds making sure her flowers were in full bloom or sitting under the big maple tree reading a book. Even when she moved to Kitchener she spent as much time in Meaford as she could being by the water at Memorial Beach.
Carolyn, Lindsay and Logan would go on lots of road trips. Some of her favourite trips were Buffalo to go to the Target store, visiting the Thousand Islands, or a trip to St. Joseph Island to visit her sister. The last few years she has enjoyed going to Disney World. She loved everything about Disney World, but especially the nightly fireworks.
A private service of interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.

Sure am going to miss this lady, she was the greatest sister and sister-in-law you could ever ask for. We had some good times together and a lot of laughs. I remember the time her and I {Marie} went to a Randy Travis concert at the auditorium and our seats were half way up in the stands. When she seen that, she said no way am I going up there, I said you have no choice, lets go. We got up there and she was shaking, but when he came on she was a clapping, her foot stomping and she was just a singing. We had a fun time that night. Will miss our visits and phone calls back and forth to each other. Rest in peace Carolyn, no more pain. Say Hi to Bill, Barb and Dennis from us. Love you for ever Murray and Marie.
