Petzke, Damon Wyatt

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Damon Wyatt Petzke on Friday, June 5th, 2026. He was 11 years old.

Damon Petzke was born on November 24, 2014, the son of Steven Mower and Laurie Petzke and grandchild of Marion (Scammell) and the late Ron Mower of Meaford and Jim and the late Sue Petzke of Kitchener.

Damon was the kind of person who never met a stranger, he loved being around people and made friends wherever he went. Known for his infectious grin, his quick sense of humour and mischievous nature, he could light up any room he entered. He was also stubborn in the best of ways, determined and strong-willed yet incredibly thoughtful and caring. He didn’t want anyone to be sad and gave the best hugs.

He was always eager to lend a helping hand (whether you liked it or not) and was always the first person to step up when someone needed help. His kindness, generosity, and ability to make others laugh left a lasting impression on everyone whose life he touched.

For the first nine years of his life, he was the cherished little brother, then he gained two younger siblings whom he adored. He rocked the role of “Big Brother”.

Though his life was far too short, Damon filled it with love, laughter, and meaningful connections. His memory will live on through the countless stories, memories, and moments shared with family and friends.

Damon is survived by and will be forever missed by his mom, Laurie Petzke; his dad, Steve Mower; his step-mom, Kaitlin Paret; siblings Kyle Petzke (Ashlie), Austin Petzke (Kelsey), Cole Petzke (Cora), Alliesha and Aiden Mower, Grandma Marion Mower, and Grandpa Petzke. He will also be dearly missed by many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as a multitude of friends and his school family who will miss his fist pumps in the hallway.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the team of medical professionals who provided compassionate care to Damon during his illness.

Forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Damon’s life will be held on July 11th, 2026 at Riverside Community Centre 157707 7th Line, Meaford, Ontario N4L 1W6 from 1 to 4 o’clock in the afternoon.

I can vouch for this little boy that he was very loving. At Timmy’s he wanted my empty cup. I asked him to put it in the garbage. He seemed so happy to be asked to do this. After putting it in the garbage he came over to me and gave me a hug and a kiss. I cherish this.

Damon, you will definitely be missed. You were the best big brother to Aiden and Allie, now your their guardian Angel. Everyone who knew you, knew that you had an amazing bond with them, they were always excited when you came to pick them up at my place, as that was your job after school. I will cherish all the memories I have with you. Especially the fri you came to get your brother and sister and my compost bucket was outside , you were ever so proud to bring it up the driveway, I seen you out the window, you came in the house and I high fived you, and said thanks, and i gave you a hug and Bob fist bumped you. Now that will be one of the memories I hold close to my heart 🙁 . I Will keep your memory alive by telling Aiden and Allie all about you as they get older so they wont forget. RIP forever and always will remember you. Love Carol xoxo

To all of Damon’s family members,
Kaitlin and I became Facebook friends a few months ago and that’s how I became acquainted with Damon. He was certainly full of life, fun, good humour, and a great big brother to his younger siblings. I hope all your wonderful memories will help a little at this time of grief and loss.

Damon left an impression on everyone whose lives he blessed. I will miss him and am grateful for all the moment and memories I was able to have with him. Trampoline fun, so excited to hop into any drivers seat left unattended, ripping me around on his little atv. His passing has left a hole in many hearts. My sincere condolences to everyone.

Dear Marion and family and Austin and Cole and families,
I am thinking of all of you at this very sad time. My condolences Marion; so very difficult for a Grandma to lose her young grandson. Austin & Cole, I remember how proud and happy you were when Damon was born; he brought so much joy and happiness to your family. You were both such awesome big brothers to him and he was always so happy sitting with either of you behind the wheel of your vehicles, pretending to drive. I supported Damon at SVE for part of his JK year. His exuberance and positive energy certainly lit up that kindergarten classroom and every other classroom that he visited ! He had the best smile ever and just being around him would make you laugh. Although his life was too short , he has taught us all that kindness is so very important and he leaves that as part of his legacy . Thinking of all of Damon’s family at this time as you take care of each other .
My heartfelt condolences and Rest in Peace Damon.
