Beamish, David Paul

David Paul Beamish passed away surrounded by his close family on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Meaford Long Term Care Home.

David will be remembered as a proud and devoted father of Chris Beamish and Kelly Beamish (Hillary Anctil), and the cherished ‘Silly Grampa David’ of Aayla Anctil and Wren Mae Anctil.  David was predeceased by his loving wife, Lorraine Beamish in November 2024.

David was born in Toronto on October 11th 1942, and grew up on Woburn Avenue with siblings Michael, Judy and Jennifer.  He was the second son to Ensor and Elizabeth Beamish.  David was given a guitar at a young age and something magical happened for him!  He would play that guitar for hours every day, especially in the summers at Camp Onandoga.  He loved Onandoga Lake and all the friends he made there.  He has spoken of that time in his life as one of the best!

David and Lorraine began their love story in 1973 and lived most of their married life in Brampton, Ontario where they raised their spectacular children!  They were together for 50 wonderful years!  David was an active member of St. Leonard’s Parish in Heart Lake, where he found friendship and community in sharing faith and music.  He was part of a group of singers call The Gospel Group.  They were dear friends, performing for many seniors at Peel Memorial Home for years.

David loved to banter, joke around, and regale anyone who would listen with a story or two!  He was always up for a party or gathering with friends and family and was very proud of his family.  David was supportive, generous to a fault, and lighthearted.  He will be sorely missed…xox

A special thank you to all the care providers at Meaford Long Term Care.  David made some pretty special connections with the community there.  We are so grateful for your kindness and support of David over the last 4 years.

Please accept my deepest condolences. I have worked with David for many years at Rockcliffe and Kipling yards. He was a great mentor and always at his best willing to help and guide. His humor was contagious, a gentleman and a friend at heart. May he rest in peace.

I haven’t seen Dave in over a decade. We used to be in the same church choir together. As a teenager, he was always very kind to me. My guitar strap was always falling off, so he showed me how to fix it with a bread bag tab. I remember I used to bike to the neighborhood McDonald’s with my friends and occasionally I would see Dave and Lorraine sitting there, sharing fries in complete peace and content. That always resonated with me as what a strong marriage should be (even though that was the mid 90’s and I was only in my early teens).
I’m glad I got to know you, Dave. You’ve left a lasting impression on my life. I hope we get to strum together again one day.

Dear Christopher, Kelly, Michael, Judy and Jennifer, and your partners:
It is with great remorse that I send this letter of condolence for David, but also for the despair that I feel for having lost two wonderful friends, Lorraine a few weeks ago and now David.
Having known the Beamish family for nearly 70 tears, I have so many memories of David & I growing up together, of going to school and university together, of attending each others wedding, of being part of Lorraine and David’s growing family, and seeing Chris and Kelly succeed in their own endeavours. I can recall how Elizabeth told me of David’s accident in Dayton when he lost half his hand and still the aplomb that he had in shaking hands. So many tales, so many emotions, so much love that I felt from all of the family. I could go on for hours, but will close with the emotion I feel, I love you, I have always loved you, and will until I die. Farewell David and Lorraine.
