Patterson, Donna Marie
Donna Patterson of Meaford passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Brightshores- Meaford Hospital on Friday, August 21, 2026 at the age of 85.
Born in Listowel on July 3,1941, a daughter of the late James and Muriel (nee Buchanan) Petrie.
She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband Jim Patterson. She was the kindhearted mother of Ken Patterson and Dave Patterson (Jodie) and proud Grandma of Connor.
Donna will be lovingly remembered by her sister Maureen Houston, brother Bob Petrie, and was predeceased by brothers Ken and Bill Petrie. She will be fondly remembered by sister-in-law Elizabeth Austin (Bill), the extended Patterson family and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Donna met Jim at the Listowel Highschool when she was just 14 years old. They were married at the Donegal United Church, October 7, 1961.
The couple initially moved to Toronto for a brief time, then to Maple, Ontario. Their sons Ken and Dave were born in 1963 and 1965 respectively. They lived in Rexdale before moving to Mono Township in 1977, and finally to Meaford in 2000.
Donna spent much of her career in medical administration in both Rexdale and Meaford, she also worked with the family business, Cedarport Window and Door Centre Inc., for many years and in new home sales in Orangeville. She was well liked and respected, Donna established special relationships with people no matter where she was working; people knew she liked them by her demeanor and genuine interest in them.
She also enjoyed many years at the cottage with friends and family, leaving lifelong memories of the best of times.
A special thank you to Phyllis Huffman, Scott and Nora Clock, Kelly Dinsmore and Diane Scott for the support and care provided to both Donna and Jim during this challenging time.
Donna will be greatly missed but will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 1 until 4 p.m. at the Meaford Hall in The Galleries. Tributes will be shared at 2 o’clock. Family and friends are welcome to gather to share memories and refreshments.

Donna and I grew up together. Farms side by side. We shared many childhood memories. The Petrie and Acheson family go way back. Our fathers grew up together in the same community. Donna and I rode their horses paddled the creek and many more childhood activities.
Later in life drew apart as we were a couple years apart. Have many memories with the Patterson family as well. Jim will miss her tremendously. Rest in peace Donna.

Dearest Donna, a first cousin, but more like a sister, she was also my best friend. Although we lived afar, we always saw each other from childhood through to her passing. Many great memories of spending time at the farm and then our times throughout our lives. The last almost thirty years living much closer together allowing us to spend much more time together.
We send our sincere condolences to Jim, Ken, Dave, sister Maureen who was also very close to her sister, and Bob her brother. Also to many of her nieces and Grandson, sister-in-law and all the extended families.

Dear Jim, Ken, Dave and family , just reading the funeral announcement and was completely shocked to see Donna’s name. I met Donna about 30 years ago. We worked for Dr Remillard and Dr Sauriol. Later Donna transferred to the Meaford Hospital and we worked together there. Donna, my mom and I would go to the city and watch musicals. Donna was so much fun, caring and such a loving person. She will be terribly missed. Thoughts and prayers to all of you and we hope wonderful memories surround you now.

Donna and I had many conversations and laughs while her Mother and my Father lived at Livingston Manor in Listowel. There was always something going on with those two whether it be a lost jack knife which turned up when I looked through everyone’s laundry in the wash or when Aunt Muriel wanted the man below her to stop making so much noise. Donna and I usually figured out together how to keep them happy. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
