Johnson, Dorothy Irene

Dorothy Johnson passed away on Monday March 17, 2025 at the Meaford Hospital.

She was the loved wife of Paul Johnson; they shared 61 years together at the bottom of Doherty’s Hill on the 7th Line.

Dorothy grew up in Heathcote and later moved to Meaford where she met Paul.

Dorothy worked at Mitchell’s in Thornbury and later retired from Monroe’s in Owen Sound.

She was a long-standing member of Meaford Calorie Counters and made many friendships over the years.  Dorothy also enjoyed crossword puzzles in the daily paper.

Dorothy and Paul attended many dances in the small communities around the area.  They spent every Father’s Day at the Rocklyn Car Show with friends and acquaintances.

There will be no public service at this time.

Condolences to Paul and family, Dot was a great lady. A very good friend of our family for a lot of years. Myself and my family have known Dot since Heathcote years. She will sadly be missed.

    To the family,

Dorothy was such a sweet woman. I met her many years ago when I taught her grandchildren. We also got to know her when her car went into the ditch and she came into our home to await her family. Dorothy later dropped off such a thoughtful gift of appreciation. I always enjoyed exchanging greetings with her in the street or in a store.

    Thinking of her family,

    Lorene Taylor and Quentin Docherty
