Lay, Edward George 'Ted'

August 1, 1934 – September 14, 2022
In his 89th year Ted passed into the loving arms of Jesus his Saviour while surrounded by his family at Meaford Long Term Care Centre.

He will be missed by his loving wife, Doreen Lay (nee Rhind), of 63 years, his daughter, Karen Beseda (Scott), and son, Bob Lay (Jennifer) and their families. He was so proud of his grandchildren, Stephen Beseda (Tara), Vicki Matthews (Josh), Brendan Lay (Steph), Veronica Beseda, and Elizabeth Meldrum (Spencer). Seeing his great grandchildren Julia, Jonah, Scarlett, James, Oscar, Talia, and Arthur always made him smile.

He was predeceased by his son, Ken, and his parents, Stanley and Lydia “Maisy” (nee Cook).

Ted was born at Gooseywick in Wantage, England. He traveled to Africa as a young man and in 1957 immigrated to Canada settling in Prince George, B.C. It was there that he began to follow Jesus and his strong faith continued to guide him throughout his life. Ted married Doreen and later with their 3 children they moved to Kamloops. Ted was a true entrepreneur and operated 3 businesses. He maintained a positive and optimistic outlook on life and was incredibly caring and thoughtful towards his family and friends. He loved to travel and share a good cup of coffee.

Thank you to the community at ‘People Care’ Meaford Long Term Care Centre who provided amazing care and support.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ted was a wonderful neighbour of ours, a true witness of Christ and was a reflection of Gods love, grace, mercy, patience, and goodness, his was an orchard full of good fruit, a humble servant of Christs walking the walk, talking the talk all the way home to the arms of Jesus Christ.
