Boyd, Eleanor Isabel

With hearts crushed and full of love, we announce the passing of Eleanor Isabel Boyd at Chapman House Hospice on Monday, December 22, 2025 at the age of 84. She was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by strength, kindness, hard work, and a wonderful sense of humour.

Eleanor was born and raised on a farm in Elisnore to Jesse and Elena McIntosh, alongside seven siblings. Farm life shaped her early years until she met and married the love of her life, Ivan, and moved to Blantyre, where they lived and farmed side by side for 64 years.
Mom worked alongside Dad in every sense of the word—from driving tractors, helping birth calves, raising her own calves, and cutting the grass, to handing Dad a wrench whenever something needed “fixing.” Farming wasn’t just work to her; it was a way of life, and she loved it.
Beyond the farm, Mom worked for over 30 years at Amerock, where she was proud to be part of the 20 Year Club with an unforgettable group of coworkers. There were many years of fun, friendships, and shenanigans shared with the Amerock crew.
Life wasn’t all work. Mom loved Saturday night dances, Campfires and socializing by the pond, Through the years, she and Dad travelled in the RV to Florida, Pigeon Forge, and Myrtle Beach, meeting new friends wherever they went.
Mom welcomed every new neighbour with open arms, and if you ever needed help, she could not say no—she would be the first one there. If you liked lemon pie, she’d make you one. And if you were lucky, you might also get her marshmallow squares or her famous Christmas fudge.
Mom will be deeply missed by her loving husband Ivan; her daughters Cindy (Duane) and Leanne (John); and her siblings Shirley Yeo (late John), Marion Robinson (Bill), Murray McIntosh (Heather), and Brenda Sparks (Ernie). She is also fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Alf Hofstrand (late Maureen) and sister-in-law Vivian McIntosh (late Bruce), sister-in-law Verna Wilcox (Tom) and sister-in-law Doris Skippen (late Elden).  She was predeceased by her sister Freda and brother-in-law Bill Harwood, and brother-in-law Art Sparks.
As per Eleanor’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

    Dear Ivan, Cindy and Leanne;

I am shocked to learn of Eleanor’s passing. Our sympathies go out to all of you. I worked with Eleanor at Amerock and although we worked hard, Eleanor could always make it fun too. Since the factory closed, we often had a good chat on the phone and reminisce on old times. I am glad you have those wonderful memories to hold dear to your hearts.

So sad to hear of Aunt Eleanor’s passing. She was one of the most down to earth and fun loving person you could know. She would always pass me on advise on things and try to get me to take a Kitten every time I would see her. It’s been a long time but I do remember her Christmas fudge every year at Grandma’s. A great Lady she will be remembered and missed.

Ivan and family, I am saddened to read of Eleanor’s passing. I worked for a year along side Eleanor at Amerock when I was 19. She took me under her wing and showed me everything from how to tape my fingers to how to surpass quota to make bonus money on the reaming machine. Eleanor always had a smile, she truly enjoyed her work and I admired her very much.

    Dear Cindy and Leanne
I recall my parents (Ken & Edna Kerr) attending many a legion dance with your folks!
Cindy was my brother’s age (Rick) and you girls would come and stay at our farm house for the evening ( sleeping on the couch and taken home when the dance was over) once our folks had returned from their Saturday night outing as a reward from their work week!
My thoughts are with your whole family as the holiday season is upon us and there is an empty chair.
Treasure your memories. Sincerely Heather Knight (Kerr). MIssissauga

    To Ivan and the girls,
I recall a lot of good memories on the farm at Elsinore with Eleanor. We as brother and sister did our share of jokes and shenanigans walking to and from school a mile and a half each way winter and summer to the D Line school. She will be missed dearly and forever in our hearts.
    Love,
