Falvey, Elizabeth May 'Betty'

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the age of 91.

Born in Meaford on April 2, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (nee Curry) McConnell.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband Daniel Falvey on March 21, 2017.

She was predeceased by seven sisters:  Ruth Gray, Edna Smith, Mabel Wonch, Lena McConnell, Florence Sherwood, Jean Eisenhofer, and Marjorie Culbert, and by two brothers:  Jim and Phene McConnell.

She was a wonderful aunt and will be missed dearly by many nieces, nephews and their families.

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ loved fast cars, horses, dogs, cats and gardening – not necessarily in that order. As the youngest sibling in the large McConnell family, she was Aunt Betty to many nieces and nephews (and eventually she was great- and then great, great Aunt Betty). She was always young at heart and enjoyed being outdoors whenever possible – ideally riding a horse, but also just walking in nature, listening to the birds and looking at the wildflowers. Her home was always full of flowers – she had a very green thumb. After she retired, Betty took up painting and was a very talented artist. Her apartment walls were adorned with many of her works and, for the past several years, the images on her Christmas cards were of her paintings. Several of her paintings also adorn ceiling tiles in the Meaford Hospital.

Family will receive friends for visitation at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 6 until 8 p.m.  A funeral service will be conducted at the Olivet Baptist Church in Meaford on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at 11 o’clock.

Farewell Betty, my dear lifelong friend of over 55 years. No matter how long or how far apart our lives took us when we reconnected it was just like we had never left. So many fond memories and stories of our times together belly dancing lessons, theatre goers, wedding crashers, dancing, laughing, riding, tubing, skiing, gardening, time at the farm with her siblings Lena and Jim, Phene, Marjorie, Ruth and Jim and nephews Tim and Rick. Rest well my friend. Big Love!

Betty was a cousin to my father Dalton Martin. Fortunately I had the opportunity to meet her and a few other cousins in 2022. What a lovely lady with so much information to share. She certainly was proud of her family.
I wish I could have met more of you. We had a wonderful time while there and I am sad we won’t have a chance to visit with her again. May she rest in peace. Our condolences to all her family.

Elizabeth was a deeply kind hearted person with so much to share. I am deeply grateful for the love and care she gave so freely to our family, to my father; her husband, Daniel Falvey.
She loved him deeply as he did her. I was always so grateful for the love they shared.
She spoke of him often and how she missed him.
Elizabeth has wonderful, deeply caring family, who cared and loved her throughout her golden years. She loved them all so much.
    My deepest Condolences.
    Love to you all.
