Burrell, Elva Yvonne
Elva passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks in Scarborough on June 25, 2026 in her 90th year.
She was born in Meaford, Ontario on February 29, 1936, and she married William (Mac) Burrell in 1953. They enjoyed 73 years of marriage and were proud parents to Christopher (Laura) and Jacqueline (Bev). Elva is survived by her beloved siblings Mike (Lila), and Linda (Mike). Elva adored spending time with her grandsons, Philip and Richard (Laura), as well as her two great grand children, Cameron and Vivienne.
After growing up on a farm, Elva had a long and successful teaching career that started in a one room schoolhouse near Owen Sound, Ontario, and she continued working in her profession when she moved to Scarborough in 1955. On or off the farm, Elva was always a fashionista, an avid reader, a seasoned traveller, a wonderful pet owner and an experienced gardener.
Elva’s smile and caring nature will always be remembered fondly, and she will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in Elva’s name.
A service will be held at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Ave East, West Hill, ON M1E2S2, CA, on June 30, 2026, at 1:00 pm with reception to follow immediately after.
A graveside service will be conducted in Lakeview Cemetery on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 1 p.m.

Sending our condolences to all of Elva’s family. Such a kind caring person, it was my pleasure to have known her , many years ago. I worked in long term care and had the privilege of caring for her mother.
