Davies, Emma Katherine

Emma Davies of Meaford passed away suddenly on Friday, April 26th, 2024 in her 40th year.

Born in Owen Sound on May 9th, 1984, Emma was the dearly loved first born daughter of Hugh and Linda Davies.

Proud and loving mother of Callie, Hunter and Ethan Davies-Villeneuve who will miss her greatly. Emma will be dearly missed by her brother Evan (Jaydaline Kaufman) and her sister Maggie (Herb Mathisen).

She was a loving auntie to Fletcher, Keenan and Annie.

Emma was the cherished granddaughter of Aija Malone (late Paul), and was predeceased by her grandparents William and Edna Davies.

She will be remembered fondly by her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Emma was kindhearted, sensitive and straight forward.  She studied social work, and it just came naturally to take the time to help others in need.  Emma will be missed but will never be forgotten.

I have many fond memories of giving Emma a ride to school from her family home in Southampton to St. Mary’s High School in Owen Sound. On those early mornings when the yellow school bus had left too soon we drove off into the new day in my Neon. I enjoyed our varied conversations and knew in those moments that Emma was a kind and gentle soul. Looking back on those sunny days, I feel lucky that our paths crossed. In this moment of great sadness, we can all feel inspired by Emma’s kindness and humanity.

So sad to hear of Emma’s passing. I have fond memories of our childhood together – I was even speaking the other day of how we used to hide in each other’s laundry baskets when having play dates in order to avoid having to go home.

Callie, Hunter, Ethan, Hugh, Linda, Evan, and Maggie:

I was so heartbroken to hear this news. I first met Emma when Ethan was still a baby and I was just a few months along with Emlyn Jude. She was gregarious and outspoken and funny and seemingly carefree. Definitely a unique character one doesn’t easily forget!
After we met, she would always check in on me here and there – even if/when she wasn’t doing so great herself. She always had kind, supportive words for me and my boys and I won’t ever forget that.

No doubt her physical absence leaves a giant, painful void. I hope that with time, some of that void can be filled with good memories and a lot of magical reminders that her spirit is still all around you.

Love from Miranda, Jude & Alfie

Emma was such an amazing friend to me when we were kids — I have such vivid and joyful memories of sleepovers at your cottage, playing in the schoolyard at St. Joseph’s together, and singing together. I’m absolutely heartbroken by this news. Sending you all so much love and strength.

Dear Linda, Hugh, Evan, Maggie and Emma’s children-
Our family enjoyed cottage vacations at Davies Dive- which you so graciously permitted us to rent for several years. I met and chatted with Emma either there or at your front door in Southampton- she was always lovely!!! At this time of great sadness we offer our sincerest condolences.
