Garbutt, Eric William

Eric was born in Toronto and spent his life living, learning, and working in Aurora and in the southern Georgian Bay area of Ontario. He also spent many years with family and friends in Winnipeg and Victoria Beach, Manitoba.

Eric loved the outdoors, snowboarding, biking, skateboarding and camping when he could. He was passionate about history, cars, food and learning about things that were of interest to him. Eric became a skilled woodworker and chef, choosing to learn these skills on his own terms.

Eric had a big heart and a generous soul. He approached his life with a fiery passion and was a loyal friend, brother and son. He loved his dogs who were his constant companions. Most recently Chapo a spunky Chorkie.

Eric was plagued with multiple health issues over the years. His quiet strength and resilience through this past year was nothing short of admirable albeit heartbreaking. Eric passed away from complications of Type One diabetes. No longer in pain and at peace, he will be remembered with love and will be missed beyond belief.

A Celebration of Eric’s life will take place in the Spring (he was not a great fan of winter lately), with a date to be determined.
