Doran, Floyd Elmer 'Floydie'
Floyd passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at the Meaford Hospital on Saturday, April 19, 2025 in his 90th year.

Born in St. Vincent Township on November 6, 1935, Floyd was the son of the late Steward and Mildred (nee Allan) Doran.
Floyd will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, Brenda (nee Campbell) Doran.
He was the kind and patient father of Randy Doran (Karen) and Rick Doran (Jodie).
Floyd was the proud Papa of Nathan, Mitchell, Owen and Sara.
He was the brother-in-law of Jack Campbell (Sharon) and Bob Campbell (Alva), was predeceased by his sister-in-law Jean Ann Skippen, and will be remembered fondly by his brother-in law Ivan Skippen and by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Many who knew Floyd would often call him ‘Floydie’, he was easy to get along with and always treated others well. Floyd was a very hard worker. He started working at a young age and in his teens, he assisted with the building and construction of the new Meaford General Hospital. He later worked at Amerock in the maintenance department. He later became an Operator and eventually a Manager in the Sewage Treatment Plants in both Meaford and Thornbury.
Floyd thoroughly enjoyed sports, both playing and coaching. He was a very talented carpenter and built a home for his family and later assisted his son Randy with the building and construction of his own family’s home. Floyd has created and built many tables, cabinets and other pieces that will be treasured by family and friends. He and Brenda have enjoyed travelling together over the years. Floyd absolutely loved having his family together; time together with them meant the world to him. He enjoyed life, worked hard and took nothing for granted. Floyd will be missed but will never be forgotten.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Floyd was a wonderful man & we have so many wonderful memories of growing up across the road. We could not have asked for better friends & neighbours than the Dorans! Floydie was like a second Dad to Bryan & I. He patiently taught me how to drive standard & always had a smile & a friendly word & rum & coke ready for me! He was always so much fun. The world will a little less joyful without Floyd in it. But, I am sure our Dad is up there welcoming his old friend Floyd to the fold.
Cherish your memories. He will be missed.
Thinking of you all.

Brenda, Rick, Randy and family.
Our sincere condolences on the passing of Floyd. I first got to know Floyd as coach of our Red Baron broomball team. Floyd was always supportive, win or lose, always displaying true sportsmanship on and off the ice. Since “back in the day” long after broomball, whenever I saw Floyd, he always inquired how the family was doing, and always brought up the 34 Chev Coupe our family owned and Dad gave it to me. I recall, he always asked if it was a 34 or 35. Seeing that he was born in 1935, I now understand why he was intrigued by it. I know my Dad and Floyd had regular chats about the 34 Chev also. Floyd was always such an easy person to converse with – another person who has blessed the lives of knows who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Doran family and all of those who held Floyd near and dear. God Bless.

Dear Brenda, Randy & Rick and families. I am thinking about you all. Floyd was a gentleman and a gentle man. He was such a nice neighbour. When I first moved to the neighbourhood my lawn was so overgrown. Floyd and Rick came over to cut the grass. Then Floyd would bring the lawnmower over for me to use until I could get a lawnmower of my own. I truly appreciated that thoughtful gesture. And I will remember his cheerful smile with a honk and wave every time he drove past.
So sorry for your loss.

Our deepest condolences to you, Brenda and your family. Wendy and I are very saddened to hear of Floyd’s passing. As you are aware, Floyd and I first met when I was transfer to work at the TD Bank in Meaford, 68 years ago, 1957. I was new to town and Floyd was very kind and made me feel welcome. As I recall Floyd along with Orville Brown were the unofficial welcoming committee and on occasion they may have lead me astray – or was it the other way around. I have wonderful memories of Floyd and my time with him in Meaford. May he rest in peace. Brenda, thank you for your dedication.
