Maxwell, Harold
Harold passed away peacefully at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre with his friend Betty by his side on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the age of 90.

Born in St. Vincent Township on July 9th, 1932, Harold was the son of the late Hugh and Marion (nee Ellis) Maxwell.
He will be missed dearly by his treasured friend Betty Shaw of Meaford, and will be remembered fondly by his Maxwell and Ellis cousins in the Chesley and Meaford area.
Harold spent his childhood in Elderslie Township and then moved to Valemount, B.C. where he enjoyed working in the sawmill and later drove a logging truck. He returned to Meaford in 1986 to help his aging parents. Harold looked forward to sharing his stories from his early years with his friends over coffee. He really enjoyed being part of the Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen in Meaford. Harold loved to volunteer and help others at the local food bank. Many people will remember Harold driving the bus and helping as a crossing guard. He cared for his mother in her later years with compassion and kindness.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 2 o’clock with visiting the hour prior to service.

Harold was a gracious, kind and beautiful man, and we are truly grateful to have known him during our time in Meaford. He would often speak to us about his time in Valemount in our part of the world. To Betty, and to all his Christ Church family, we send our condolences and pledge our prayers. With them, we hold him up to God in faith and with thanksgiving.

Thank you for your kind words. Harold was everyone’s friend and would do anything to help anyone.. His years in Valemount were the best years of his life. Until he died, he was always telling us about things that happened there and all the great people that he knew out there. He will be missed.
