House, Jacqueline Shirley 'Jackie'

Jackie House passed away peacefully at her home at the Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf in Barrie on Friday, January, January 13, 2023 at the age of 78.

Jackie was born in Owen Sound on March 28, 1944, a daughter of the late George and Hazel (nee Hodgkinson) House.

She was the much-loved sister of Bernice Hall (late Wilf) and the late Ronald House. Jackie will be remembered fondly by her sister-in-law Ann House and her nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Jackie spent her younger childhood years in Owen Sound and then moved to Belleville where she attended the Ontario School for the Deaf and developed many lifelong friendships.  She then moved to the Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf in Toronto and as her health needs increased, she moved to the home in Barrie.  Jackie loved learning and was very curious and well educated.  She communicated extremely well through signing, reading lips and eyes and of course writing letters back and forth with family and friends.  Jackie was bright and loved to keep busy with her hands and really enjoyed knitting.  She was a beautiful and kind woman and was always happy to have visitors.

A private family service will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford with a service of committal and interment following at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher Street E., Meaford, ON   N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.
