Wilson, James Hendry 'Jim'
July 22, 1931 – April 27, 2026
James Hendry ‘Jim’ Wilson passed away peacefully, and strictly on his own terms, on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Brightshores Hospital in Wiarton at the age of 94. He was surrounded by the love and presence of his children.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on July 22, 1931, Jim was the son of Samuel and Senga Wilson. He carried his steady Scottish resilience to Canada, where he lived a long, remarkably vibrant, and healthy life.
Jim’s life was anchored by the deep bonds he shared with the two women who preceded him in death. He first shared his life with his beloved wife, Ann Malleck. Together they raised their family until her passing in 1978. Jim was later blessed to find love again with Mary Novak, with whom he spent many happy years in Meaford.
A familiar and friendly face in his Meaford neighbourhood, Jim was well-loved by his neighbours for his kind spirit and quiet strength. He was a man of the outdoors who truly valued his health; he could often be found out for a walk, taking in the fresh air and the world around him. He remained independent and active well into his tenth decade, a testament to his character and grit.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of integrity and strength in his children: Peter (Margie), Andrew, Robert (Lisa), and Beth (Allister). He will also be fondly remembered by Mary’s sons, Dennis (Kristin) and Bruce, along with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim’s family extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and palliative care team at Wiarton Hospital for their compassionate care and for helping Jim complete his journey with dignity and grace.
“Guid night and joy be wi’ you a’.”
A service celebrating Jim’s life will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 11 a.m. A private service of committal and interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.

My sincere condolences to all of Jim’s and to Mary’s families. I had many lovely chats with them both at my work and I visited them in Maple Meadows with some baking on occasion, sharing recipes with Mary. They spoke highly of all of you and the grandchildren. Your Dad was a kind and gentle soul.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Jim and Mary were wonderful neighbours when they lived on 15-16 St.Vincent Township. We also became neighbours when we both moved to Maple Meadows. Jim was a great guy. Always had a big hello. His friendly nature will be missed greatly.

I moved into Maple Meadows the same day as Mary and Jim,right next door and became friends for life. I moved but still stayed in contact and will miss them both forever.
