Danby, James Henry 'Jim'

Jim Danby passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2025 in Alliston, Ontario, at the age of 82.

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, on August 4, 1942 to Jamesina and Wilfred Danby. He was married to Lynda (nee Webber) whom he met in Sauble Beach, on August 7, 1965 until her passing in 2014.

He was the proud and wonderful father of Kirk and Sean Danby. Loving grandfather of Benjamin James Danby and Aisling Danby. Caring father-in-law of Mari Muranaka.

Brother of Marlene Zoccoli (brother-in-law to Cosmo Zoccoli) and predeceased by 11 siblings. He will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews from across Canada.

Brother-in-law to Joanne (Jim) Comeau, Larry (Mary Ellen) Webber, Judy (Barry) McBride, Janice (Dean) McPherson, Kathy (Rob) Hawes, Steve Webber / Tanya Welsh.

Jim was a kind man who enjoyed spending time with friends and family either around the campfire or a card table. He enjoyed his retirement years with many of his friends and family at Woodland Park in Sauble Beach. He had a strong love for hockey and was a coach and mentor for many young players. His disdain for the Toronto Maple Leaf’s was just as strong as his love for the game.

The Danby family will be forever grateful to the staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston and the staff at Riverwood Senior Living in Alliston for all the care given to our dad in his final years.

A celebration of Jim’s life will take place in the summer, with details to be announced to family at a later date.

Sending sincere condolences to all the people that knew and loved Jim, I am so sorry for your loss. Hope it helps to know that he is now with his beloved wife, Lynda, once again..
Brian and I had many great times with Jim and Lynda over the years, our trip to Florida together was one of our longest get togethers, and most memorable. Fun times had by all.
You will be missed Jim. He was such a gentle, kind soul.
Sending love and hugs to his sons, Kirk and Sean
