Bumstead, Jennifer Florence 'Jen'

We sadly announce the passing of our dear niece and cousin, Jennifer Florence ‘Jen’ Bumstead in her 49th year in Meaford, Ontario on Friday, November 3, 2023.

She was predeceased by her parents John Bumstead and Linda Riordan (nee Cooper) and her furry friend, her cat ‘Furious’.

Jen will be greatly missed by her Uncle Ted Bumstead, Aunt Beth Bumstead, cousins Tracy Bumstead (Ian), Bruce Bumstead (Jen) and Todd Bumstead (Ashley). She will also be missed by her Aunt Karen Allen, her friends and her extended family.

Jen was born in Mississauga, Ontario on October 27, 1975.  She lived in many places during her life and spent the majority of her years in Meaford, Ontario.  She graduated from Georgian Bay Secondary School and obtained her Business Administration diploma from Georgian College.

Before her illness, Jen enjoyed fishing and canoeing, going to concerts and living life to the fullest.  Throughout her life Jen liked being by the water, Bumstead family gatherings, reading a scary novel, listening to 80’s rock and roll, going for walks, watching her favourite t.v. shows and she absolutely loved to laugh.

A special thank you to her extended family at Meaford Long Term Care Centre who cared for, supported and befriended Jen during her eight years there.

Please celebrate and remember Jen in your own special way. There will not be any formal service or ceremony.

Jen was an amazing best friend/sister over the years . We met in public school and just knew we would be besties . Jen was the life of the party anywhere we went. We got into a lot of mysterious stuff growing up and I wouldn’t of changed my time with her for one minute. I spent a lot of time at Jen’s when she lived with her dad and grandma on Marshall St., if I wasn’t at her place she was always at mine . Jen, I’m going to miss you so much, this disease you had you definitely didn’t deserve it, you were always kind hearted and did what you could for everyone, I will cherish all our memories together forever. I’m glad I got to spend time with you for your birthday too. ‘Til we meet again sweet angel Jen, fly high now spread your wings pain-free ❤️

I met Jen one day she came to my house to get more information about Huntington’s from me as it is in my family . We had a lovely visit and gave her information I had. It is a terrible to contact it and I was fortunate not to get HC but I lost 1 brother and 2 sister’s. Thoughts are with you at this trying time. Take care Marion Genoe

I was incredibly sad to hear the news of your passing. I had hoped to reconnect with you one day after high school. Life happened and sadly we had grown apart. We were best friends in grades 8, 9 and 10 and were inseparable. The amount of memories I have are too many to list! But girl we had the most fun being bad, getting into trouble, plotting, adventuring, road tripping, prank calling, causing some sort of chaos, partying, doing as many illegal things as we could ha ha, watching horror movies and always laughing at how stupid people were in the movies, “Joe Boo”, “Fluffalunkie”, fart fights, working at McD’s in Collingwood OMG how that sucked! And the USA trip to Fantasy Island we took! Vanilla Ice concert that got cancelled on us! All the times we spent in wasaga beach. Beer Steaks! The Temple! Camping at memorial in the truck lol. I’ll keep your secrets safe always. RIP old friend. Oh how I wish we had of reconnected after high school!
