Joan Fay Randall of Meaford, formerly from Toronto, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 86 on Monday, June 8, 2026.
She will be dearly missed by her niece Wendy Ann Armstrong (James Watt), nephew Michael Randall Armstrong (Christine), niece Kerri Ann Armstrong Van Valkenburg (Andy) and former brother-in-law Robert James Armstrong (Judy).
Joan will be overjoyed to reunite with all those who went before her: her best friend and companion, Rose Anne Dean 62 years of kinship, who passed 5 years prior at the age of 95.
Her beloved parents, the Honorable Stanley John Randall (1989) and her mother Peggy Randall (2009) and her younger sister, Patti Anne Randall Armstrong (2007). Joan also joins her beloved fur-babies, Scamp and Muffin.
Her great nieces and nephews also bid her a farewell: Kaitlyn, Brandon, Jacob, Hayden, Madison, Jessica, Matthew, Andrew and Emma. In addition to her great-great niece and nephew, Audrey and Bo and her cousin, Jeanie Ferguson of Bobcaygeon.
Joanie Fay will also be greatly missed by her lifelong best friends, Mary Quinn Moffat of Toronto and Elinor Kirby of Midland. She will be sadly missed by her friends, Trent Laves, Jackie Wilkinson and Theresa Carmichael among many others at Oak Meadows (Independent Retirement Community) where she resided for the past nine years.
Joan also leaves behind her beloved dog, Shadow, her black cockapoo, who is now under the loving care of Trent, Shadow’s best friend.
Aunt Joanie will be fondly remembered for her substantial contribution in her 30 plus year career in education, teaching and advocating for those students with developmental challenges. The highlight of her career in education at the Catholic school board was integrating those special students into the mainstream education system. She was highly dedicated to those students and their parents, and was recognized as such.
On a more personal note, as a family, we will cherish the chalet and farm days of our youth with her thoroughbred horses, snowmobiling, golfing and boating.
Joan will also be remembered for her strong political views and keeping abreast of current world events.
There will be no formal service or funeral held for Joan, as per her wishes. Cremation will take place and Joan’s life will be quietly celebrated at the end of June by close family members.

I enjoyed Joan’s honesty. She was to be admired for knowing who she was and sticking to her values.
She was a supportive aunt to Wendy. Wendy provided Joan , in return, support as well. Rest in peace Joan with those who you have loved and respected.

Joan was going to be my next door neighbour so I introduced myself and we had a half hour discussion about her horses etc.
Next morning she passed unexpectedly and I was shocked.
Rest in peace Joan as I was glad to have met you even if it was a brief encounter.

Joan was a good friend.
She provided love and support for our family and we have countless memories of fun times with Joan and Roseanne at her farm and chalet in the Flesherton area, especially when Stan (Poppy) and Peg (Nana) were with us.
She maintained a close relationship with Patti and me, along with Wendy and Kerri and developed a special bond with Mike (Michael) during his middle school years.
Judy and I are sending daily prayers for Joan, Roseanne, Patti, Stan and Peg who are now together in a better place.
A special “thanks” to our Wendy who provided such loving care for Joan during the past several years.
