John Charles Patterson passed peacefully with his wife by his side at Andy’s House Hospice in Port Carling, Ontario on August 19, 2026.
John was born on February 25, 1956 in Toronto to John and Marion Patterson.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Smith of Gravenhurst; his son, Cameron Patterson of Burlington; and granddaughter, Brooklyn Patterson.
Predeceased by his parents, John and Marion Patterson; in-laws, Douglas and Helen Smith; and daughter, Shawna Patterson.
John will be remembered for many things including his love of old cars and boats.
Cremation has taken place; interment will occur at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford, ON on September 3, 2026 at 1 p.m.

John always put a smile on my face every time he saw me. He will be missed by many who knew him. RIP John no more pain.

John was a great guy. I think he knew everything you could about engines. Each time I visited him he’d be rebuilding a boat, or a truck, or a motorcycle. The guy was a wealth of knowledge. His shop looked more like a laboratory than a garage. John and his wife Lori let my girlfriend, now wife, look after their place for a whole month. After that month we knew we were meant for each other. I thank John and Lori for that experience. Rest easy John. You be will sorely missed.

John was truly one of a kind—a strong, principled man with a wonderful sense of humour and an impressive collection of toys that he took such pride in tinkering with and caring for. I always enjoyed our conversations and genuinely liked and respected him. I’m grateful his suffering has ended, though he will certainly be missed. My heartfelt condolences and support. xoRIPxo
