Dubeau, John Joseph
John Dubeau passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026 in Collingwood with family by his side at the age of 60 after an unexpected accident.

John will be greatly missed by his partner in life, Wendy Boyle, and his step-children, David and Jennifer. He was a very proud Papa to his ‘Kitty-Kabooties’, Scarlett, Madison, Mikayla and Everlee.
John was predeceased by his parents Medore Dubeau and Georgette King, he will be missed by his siblings, Janet (Brian), Jimmy (Wanita), Jeannie (late Bobby), Joannie, Mary-Anne (Boyd) and Jack (Christine ‘Lucy’).
He will be remembered fondly by his many nieces, nephews and their families, especially Cameron who shared a special bond with his Uncle John.
John worked at Pilkington Glass (LOF) in Collingwood for 43 years. After working a 12-hour night shift John could often be seen sitting on his mower cutting grass, or with a chainsaw in his hand to cut trees for the many people who would call for his help. To most of us, this would seem like more work, but to John, working outside was never work because he truly loved what he did.
When work was done for the day, John could be found floating in the boat on Georgian Bay waiting for the next bite or hunting. He loved taking someone fishing for the first time so that he could share in the joy of catching that first fish.
One of John’s greatest pleasures was having the house full of the sound of music and laughter. His love of music started at an early age when he discovered Gordon Lightfoot and taught himself to play guitar. If you walked in the door, you were offered a guitar to play and if you didn’t play guitar you might end up with a tambourine, harmonica or spoons. He didn’t care if you didn’t know how to play an instrument, just that you enjoyed yourself.
Later in life when there were grandchildren to have fun with it was garage karaoke with a microphone and amp, feeding the ducks and hearing the joy of the girls when the ducks would clamour over their feet trying to be first at the food. If there was enough snow Papa would build snow blocks for the girls to carve whatever their imaginations could dream up.
John will be remembered by the many who knew him as someone who was always there to lend a hand, no matter what the job entailed. A very special thank you to Dr. Milligan and Sue in Emergency and Dr. Randazzo, Tracey, Dan, Jin, Rebecca, Alanna and Angela in the ICU at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital for their kindness and compassion during such a difficult time.
A celebration of John’s life will take place on August 1st, 2026 from 1-4 at the Nottawa Community Hall.

Dear Wendy & family
We are so saddened to hear of John’s passing. We will always remember his beautiful smile & laugh when he either came into D & L Family Variety or met him in the neighbourhood. He was always more than willing to help anyone who needed help & I don’t think he ever said NO to anyone. He was truly a great person who we will miss dearly. Our thoughts & prayers go with you Wendy & your family and as we remember John. We hope that everyone will have a smile on their face & be thankful that we knew him. RIP John gone too soon but never forgotten.

Wendy and Family
My sincere condolence on the passing of John. I have known John for many years and John was truly one of the good guy’s. John would do anything for you. Even brought me fish. Sometimes we would sit in his garage and listen to country music and talk about the books we liked to read. My thoughts are with you.

Very surprised and extremely sorry to hear that John has passed. My sincere condolences to Wendy and all of his family. He was a sincere, loyal, and generous friend. We enjoyed having him hunt at our place, and he always shared the bounty, along with numerous fish. He had a heart of gold and will be truly missed
