Mould, John Michael 'Mick'

August 18, 1952 - February 6, 2025

Mick passed away suddenly on Thursday February 6, 2025 at the Meaford Hospital with his loving wife, Christine by his side.

He was the proud father of Roderick (Amy McKibbon) and Thomas (Ioana Abdi).

Mick will be dearly missed by his grandchildren; Jack, Harrison, and Lucas.

He was the much-loved brother to Marjorie Rowe (Steve) and caring uncle to Henry and Ellen.

Mick’s early life began in Castleton, North Yorkshire, England. He had many friends and was a regular cricket player as was his dad, Alfred. He partook in other village pursuits like bale throwing, tug’o’war and darts.

His first job was a farm, Field House Farm, Castleton. Later he worked as a building contractor and married Christine in 1981. They had a family of two sons, Thomas and Roderick and later three grandsons Jack, Lucas and Harrison who called him Mickey or Papa Mick.

In 2004 they moved to Canada, first they lived on a farm on the 11th line and later in town in Meaford. He was often seen about town walking their dog, Nora. He enjoyed working locally as a school bus driver for Martin’s School Transit and helping at the Thornbury’s Antique Market with his wife Christine.

As per Mick’s wishes, only private arrangements at this time with a Celebration of Mick’s Life to be planned at a later date in the nicer weather.

    Christine and Family,

I am saddened to hear of Micky’s passing. Mick was my bus driver when I had just started school. I was a very shy child, and he made me feel “seen” and safe. In the years that followed, when I ran into him in the community, he always remembered my brother and me, along with both of our names. He always took time to chat.

My family and I will miss seeing him around town, but we will never forget his kindness and his smile.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. We enjoyed having Mick and Christine as neighbours on the 11th Line. Mick always had a big ready smile and a wave when seeing us in the field or on the road.
Our daughter Melanie appreciated working with Thomas who entertained her with his English expressions.
They were good neighbours. Mick will certainly be missed.

So sorry to hear of Mick’s passing. I loved working with Mick at Martin’s. He was always a great help when doing charters for me. Craig loved being his co-worker and took delight in his sense of humour although having a hard time understanding him.

We shopped at the Antique Market (most recently, the week before his passing) and my British husband and he would have chats while I searched for treasures. He had a great smile and personality. It was lovely to read all the tributes about Mick and realise how much he was respected in Canada. I was lucky enough to be a friend of Mick’s in England from Primary School days until he moved over there. We had many great times over the years and I could write a book about them which I’m sure would be a best seller. Wendy and I were so shocked to hear the sad news and our thoughts are with Christine and family.
