Sublett, John Stewart

It is with great sadness that we announce that John Stewart Sublett passed away on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023 at the age of 77. John passed at home with his devoted wife of 25 years, Jo-Ann, by his side.

Born on July 2, 1946 in Hamilton, John was a son of the late John and Yvonne (nee Stewart) Sublett.

He was predeceased by his first wife Susan.

John was loved dearly by his sons Daniel James ‘Dan’ Sublett (Melissa), grandchildren Taylor, Cameron, and Lauren, and by his son John Edward ‘Ted’ Sublett (Joel), and by Michael Glavin, grandchildren Hannah and Sam, and dear Debby Glavin.

He is survived by his brother Stirling Sublett (Susanne), and his sister Julia Sublett (Edward).

John was a true gentleman, very creative and very thoughtful of others.  He had many friends in the community.   John had great style and a much-enjoyed sense of humor.  He had an enormous appreciation of the outdoors, which led him to settle in the Beaver Valley for the last 35 years.

John’s family extend their thanks to Dr. Sandhu and Dr. Remillard for the wonderful care and support he has received.

Very sorry to hear the news of Johns passing, my condolences to his family. I enjoyed talking to John when our paths met, could have been down at the harbour, post office or an orchard. We often talked sailing, John gave me a book on sailing the North Channel, he signed it, “May you have many memorable journeys”. I will think of John when i take my boat to the North Channel. I would like to add my condolences to the messages above. John obviously had a caring group of friends and family around him during his life. John contacted me several years ago and we had great fun talking about our public school and high school activities and antics. We also exchanged our views about what was wrong with the world and how we would fix it, as old guys often do. I don’t know why but since we were kids we most often referred to each other and friends by last name. I want to thank Sublett for looking me up and having a few laughs together again.

So sad to know of John’s passing.
Jo, sending you big hug of support.
You were so devoted to keeping him as comfortable as possible while he fought cancer for many years.
He was a great guy with a very serious dry sense of humour!
We will all miss him trying to get our undivided attention to hear his next rant about some politicians’ stupid
comment on how they are going to improve the economy, etc., etc..Ha! Ha!
Take good care up above John…….I am sure they will enjoy your humour and commentary.
    Rest in peace.
    Donna
