Scott, Joseph Darryl 'Joe'

April 27, 1969 – January 10, 2024

Joe passed away peacefully at the Meaford Hospital on Wednesday; January 10th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 54.

He is survived by ‘his girls’, his wife Jody Scott (nee Foster) and his proudest accomplishment, his daughter Lauryn Scott.

Joe is also survived by his proud parents Jeanne and Stephen Staveley and his beloved sister-in-law Diane Scott (nee Hubbard), her spouse Travis Ayton-Lee and Joe’s very special nephew Logan Scott, and Khyron and Ryley Ayton-Lee.

He was predeceased by his younger brother Jeff Scott who he missed immensely.

Joe was the cherished adopted son of the late Brian Scott and will be fondly remembered by his wife Anne of Thunder Bay.

Joe will be greatly missed by his in-laws Shirley Foster and Ron Foster and his brother-in-law Scott Foster and his spouse April Akerfelt.  He is also the cherished cousin of Michelle Pritchard. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends, both old and new.

Joe was a wonderful storyteller and prankster; he had the best delivery and a laugh that will never be forgotten.  He was extremely entertaining and smart, which was a great combination because Joe was mechanically inclined and very much a ‘MacGyver’; if something wasn’t working, he could find a way to make it work. He was a hard-core Buffalo Bills fan and he always cheered for the underdog, so was very much a Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan. He enjoyed fishing and BBQing and was very generous with his time and talents. He loved volunteering with the Fire Department and the Kinsmen. Joe’s family was very important to him and he loved being at home with ‘his girls’.

A celebration of Joe’s life will take place at the Beaver Valley Community Centre on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 2 until 5 p.m., with tributes at 3 o’clock.  The family requests that you bring all your favorite memories and stories of Joe, so his humor and antics will be remembered forever.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to a fund for Joe’s daughter Lauryn’s education (cheques only payable to Lauryn Scott) or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON   N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.   www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

Cant even image where things are at and how your family must feel. Joes was a lighthearted guy who made everyone in the room laugh, feel loved, and seen. Great dad who looked with kindness on those around him. Much love to Jody, Lauryn, and his family. Days with our girls in daycare, African lion safari, cards at the pub and sleeping by the pool. Xo
