Beamish, Lorraine Kathleen

Lorraine Beamish passed away peacefully on the morning of November 16, 2024 at Meaford Long Term Care Home. Although she died at 87 years old, she perpetually thought of herself as ‘29 and a bit’!

Lorraine will be remembered as best friend and loving wife of David Beamish, proud and devoted mother of Christopher Beamish and Kelly Beamish (Hillary Anctil), and the cherished Grannie of Aayla Anctil and Wren Anctil.  Lorraine was predeceased by her sister Patsy Tucker.

Lorraine was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1937.  She was the daughter of Carman and Irene Lescarbeau.  She would speak fondly of her life growing up with siblings, Aunt’s, Uncle’s and grandparents surrounding her at her home on Bloomfield Ave in Montreal where she could often be found ‘rolling around’ and climbing stairs in her roller skates.

Lorraine and David lived most of their married life in Brampton, Ontario where they grew their children and continued their love story.  They were active members of St. Leonards’ Parish in Heart Lake, where she found strong community and lasting friendships.  Lorraine worked for the Red Cross for many years building relationships and caring for all of those around her.

Always up for a good joke and purveyor of many fine one-liner’s, Lorraine loved to laugh!  She was kind hearted, generous to a fault and always had a ready smile for everyone she passed.

Her lightness, laughter and loving nature will be sorely missed by many but never forgotten.

‘I’ll love ya and leave ya’ was her sign off…

Angel of Symphony,

The earth will weep and the winds will scream,

For our angel has loved and left us.

Tho the heavens will have empathy,

They will cry with joy as an angel has returned to their symphony.

Sincere condolences to Dave, Chris, Kelly, Aayla, Wren, and all Lorraine’s family and friends. We first met Lorraine shortly after Kelly and Hillary started dating. We were invited to dinner at Kelly’s apartment with Hillary, Dave and Lorraine, and then they took us all to see The Lion King. We saw them a few times over the years in Ontario and on Read Island. When I was recovering from surgery in 2010 an unexpected parcel arrived in the mail. It was from Lorraine, and it contained seven individually wrapped items, one to be opened each day for a week. It was such a thoughtful thing to do, and I was very touched by it. RIP Lorraine.

Lorraine was a pillar of grace and dignity in our family. We remember her fondly for her wide, beautiful smile and for the twinkle in her eyes when she said something funny or shared a confidence. She was down to earth and cared sincerely by showing interest in family members. Lorraine was admired more than she realized. She was humble and very, very kind. Sincere condolences.
    With love,

Lorraine was one of the nicest women I have ever known. She was a firm believer in the importance and value of prayer and service to others. Years ago, David and Lorraine were in a Praise and Worship choir group at St. Leonard’s in Brampton. At one point there were two choir members named Lorraine in the group and someone asked how we would distinguish between the two of them. David said, My wife is sweet Lorraine.” I thought that was a perfect description.

    Dear brother David,
Mary and I want you to know that we are still coming to grips with the realization that we will not visit with Lorraine again. How very much more must be your sorrow. Your wife, your lover, your partner, your best friend. Lorraine was all that and more to you. And mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbour, friend, and helper to so many more. Goodbye is heart-wrenching.
We are also comforted to know that your faith in Christ and hope for eternity pours its salve and grace onto the wounds of mourning, soothing your heart with expectations of future joy.
May peace rule over the darkness of these days and delightful memories of the past 50 plus years together bubble up to fill the room with laughter and put a new song in your heart.
    With love, Michael & Mary

Dear David, Chris & Kelly and all of the extended Beamish and Lescarbeau families:
When we heard of Lorraine’s passing, a tremendous flood of wonderful memories came to the fore. Lorraine was a very principled match for you David which led into a joyous wedding in Montreal and life seemed like everything was possible.
Although you and Lorraine had many stressors to deal with, you found support in each other and in your religious faith.
I found tremendous support from Lorraine and yourself – it was always a joyous experience to stay with you on Fanshawe and anywhere else.
    May Lorraine rest in peace.

Lorraine was the sweetest lady. She had the best sense of humor and always talked about her loving family over her well liked tea. Will never forget her and often she reminded me of my mom. Loved caring for her at HCSS and home care during covid.
