McConnell, Lyle Neven
After many years struggling with mental health challenges, Lyle McConnell of Meaford succumbed to his illness on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the age of 68.

Born in Meaford on February 5, 1953, Lyle was a son of the late George and Elsie (nee Smith) McConnell.
He will be missed dearly by his much loved partner and best friend, Carol Sadler of Meaford.
Lyle was the proud father of Tara McConnell, Eric McConnell (Grace), Troy McConnell, and will be remembered fondly by their mother, Ruth McConnell.
He was the much loved brother of Joy Allan (Gord), Patricia MacDonald, Linda Gray (late Tom), and Catherine Verburg (David).
Lyle will be remembered fondly by Carol’s children; Rory, Jennifer (Tyler) and Alicia (Devon), and grandchildren; Jacob, Sophie, Amelia, Oliver, Rowan and Eli, and by his many nieces, nephews and their families.
Lyle was a kind and gentle soul; he was sensitive, patient and extremely thoughtful. He would do anything for anybody and would do it thoroughly and with care. Lyle loved animals, especially his cats, and any other four legged friends in need of love and attention. He had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to make those around him smile. Music was a very important part of Lyle’s world, it brought him joy, comfort and peace. ‘Though your feet may take you far from me, I know wherever is your heart I call home.’ Brandi Carlile
A private family service will be conducted at Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford, with a service of committal and interment following at Lakeview Cemetery.
As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted. www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

So Sad, went to high school with Lyle, haven’t seen him since, and that’s a few years ago!! Lyle and I sat together in our home room, at the double seating units in Miss. Disher’s Class!! Lyle was the shiest guy I ever knew!!

I’m so very sad to hear about my cousin Lyle. Even though I never saw him after our childhood, I never forgot him, or any of my cousins. Depression is such a terrible and mysterious suffering, so often afflicting the tenderest and most gentle souls. My heart goes out to all his family

I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember riding the school bus with Cathy every day when I was very young, and listening to stories that my mom told about her cousins. Whenever I drive past that farmhouse, I always think of your family growing up there. My sincere condolences go out to your whole family.

So sorry to hear of Lyle’s struggles and of his passing. Our deepest sympathy for the family and all who knew him and loved him. My brother Ron chumed with Lyle. We were neighbours of the McConnell family for many years and knew Lyle and his sisters in Sunday School, school, youth groups etc and travelled to high school on the same school bus. Its a difficult time to say goodbye to a loved one. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I am saddened, to say the least! Lyle and I were, for a critical time in our younger lives, best friends. I remember him as a shy guy, but also as a sincere and honest and genuine person, and a great friend. We shared some wonderful and memorable times together!
To the McConnell family, and to all of those who loved him, I offer my sincere condolences.

Lyle was a much loved member of all our family. I was lucky to grow up beside my McConnell cousins and watched Lyle grow from a beautiful toddler to a kind, quiet young man. What I remember most was his easy smile and chuckle. Lyle touched a lot of people and will be missed by all of them. I am sorry for the huge painful loss that his family are feeling and hope pleasant memories will bring some peace.
Rest In Peace Lyle. Know you were important and very much loved.
