Lawrence, Margaret Rose
Margaret Rose Lawrence sadly, but peacefully, left us to begin the next leg of her journey on April 5, 2021.

Marg was born on March 10, 1933 in Wingham, ON, she was a daughter of the late James and Delphine (nee Fitzpatrick) Bell.
Loved by her husband Howard for more than 59 years, Marg will be forever missed by Howard and her family; Greg, Brad (Andrew), Jeff (Jocelyn). She was incredibly proud of and loved her grandchildren Nicholas and Emily.
Marg was the best sister to her younger brother Joesph Bell and spent many years working by his side on the farm, something she loved to do.
In her younger years Marg was a professionally trained opera singer, training at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She met and married Howard in 1961 and moved to Meaford in 1967. Marg spent many years in the most challenging and rewarding career – looking after her family and renovating her home with Howard. In the early 1980’s she went to work at the Meaford Nursing Home and spent 17 years as their secretary before retiring at the age of 65.
Marg was a very caring soul who worried for and about everyone’s wellbeing. She forged long and steadfast friendships with people of all ages. She had a love of reading, CNN, and looking after her grand-dogs! Marg was incredibly open minded and could and would have a conversation about anything. She was able to laugh at herself, had a great sense of humour and loved life. ‘We already miss you and we will carry your light forever.’
Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be held at a later date when it is safe for family and friends to gather.
As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted. www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

Fond memories of Margaret through the years and will always remember that laugh. After ball games, basketball and tournaments we always had fun at the Lawrence household and Margaret was a big part of that. Our thoughts are with Howard, Greg, Brad, Jeff and family.

During our brief time living in Meaford in the late 60’s and early 70’s we greatly enjoyed many get togethers with the Lawrence family! Later in life I dropped by unannounced in uniform and explained my Regiments role in the sounds coming from the old « Tank Ranges »! My driver was impressed by the hospitality, and great pie that Marg had ready for us, as if she knew we were coming! Sympathies to Howard and the family from me and the extended O’Brien family. My father likely insisted on being part of Marg’s welcoming committee in Heaven, song and stories are still going on I suspect! William O’Brien, Québec City.

Howard, Greg, Brad, Jeff and family. We were so very sad to hear of Marg’s passing. Howard and Marg have always been such great friends to our family. A day rarely passes when Mom doesn’t mention Marg – usually some interesting conversation they had or the most recent book they shared and loved. Please reach out if we can support in any way. Our thoughts are with you all.

I was so sad to learn of Marg’s passing – she has been a family friend and one of my mom’s dearest friends for the past 50 years. I still have very clear memories from when I was a kid of Marg singing while mom played the organ at church. She was always such a friendly person and I really enjoyed seeing both Marg and Howard when I came home to visit my family in meaford. Her cheery disposition and sense of humour will be so missed by all who knew her I’m sure. My condolences to Howard, Greg, Brad and Jeff. I’m far away but thinking of you all during this difficult time. So sorry for your loss.

I have no words to express my sympathy for the whole Lawrence family. My losing a friend of near 50 years is a great blow. Music initially brought us together but Marg became much more over the years and will live on in all our precious memories.

Dear Howard, Greg, Brad, Jeff & loved ones, it is with much sadness that I read about dear Marg’s passing.
Her gentle voice & loving ways will always be remembered by me. She made people feel special.
Some believe that heaven is just a hairs width distance away. I like to think that, so our loved ones are just a whisper away when we think of them. Love never dies, so you will always have her love.
Marg had a gentle strength and an Irish practicality that will hopefully come to mind, to help you through the difficult times.
She was one special lady who had a positive effect on all who knew her.

Howard, Greg, Brad, Jeff, Nicolas and Emily –
I am saddened by Marg’s passing, she was my sister-in-law but also a very good friend. I’ll miss our phone talks where we would to try to solve world problems, then, always ending upbeat and humorous to close. I will remember the happy times with love and admiration for the beautiful person she was.

I am so sad to hear of Margs passing even though I know she has just moved on to her eternal life. Marg was a dear friend to my mom, Vivian Cinanni. As I watched their friendship I saw what true friendship was. It was there faith that brought them together and working together but their friendship had no boundaries. My mom was very sad to hear of the loss of her friend. On the visits we had with Marg she always took me by surprise with her wit and humour. There is a big piece missing in the Lawrence household. My deepest condolences to all of you. I wanted to share what a great friend Marg was to my mom and the joy and support they shared. I am thankful I was able to witness such great friendship. You will be missed Marg! Wishing comfort to her family!

What a shock it was when Andrew, our son, called telling us that Brad was on his way home, as his Mom, Margaret, had passed during the night. It brought to mind the cruise and vacations the six of us had over the years. These are great memories, Margaret was so personable and game to join in on whatever was planned. We will really miss her!

Howard and Family,
We were so saddened to read of Marg’s passing. It brought to mind our little Renew group of the early 80s, with the two of you, Cathy and Ed and Jean! Those were special days for us as young parents. Our paths have not crossed often since those days, but we still remember Marg’s beautiful voice in church. She was such a warm, caring and gentle person and you will miss her terribly. May you find comfort in all your wonderful memories.
May she rest in peace.
Wes and Fionnuala Sparling.

Howard, Greg, Brad, Jeff and your families; we’re so sorry that you had to say goodbye to Margaret. We know you will miss her dearly. We will miss her as well, especially her laugh and her sense of humor. We take comfort in having the privilege of knowing her and all of you. Hopefully, you can take comfort in knowing that she will have plenty of laughter in heaven especially with the likes of her brother Joe, my brother Brad, mom and dad, Aunt Lee, Uncle Berv, Bob and so many others that met her at that gates of heaven. We wish we could offer our condolences in person as all of you have done in the past when our family is lost somebody. But that will have to wait, so until please accept our deepest sympathies. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Mike, Dawn, Isaac and Cheyne Ferguson
