Storey, Mary 'Madeline'

Madeline Storey passed away peacefully with family by her side at Lee Manor Nursing Home on Monday January 13, 2025, in her 91st year.

Born in Meaford on July 8, 1934; Madeline was the daughter of the late Esther (nee Londry) and Stephen Guy. Predeceased by Husband Lorne Storey, and Sisters Isabel (John) Florian, Bessie (Lionel) Gibbons, and Sister-in-Laws Lillian (Charlie) Hodgkinson, Muriel (John) Hrabi, and brother-in-law Laverne Storey.

She was the dear Mother of Barb Murray (Ian), Brenda Gruber (Frank), Allan Storey (Chris), and Aubrey Storey. Predeceased by son, Steven Storey.

She was the much-loved Special Gramma to Melinda Dinsmore, Ted Dinsmore, Mary Catherine Prasad, Diana Maidment, Crystal Storey, Sara Storey and Jeffrey Storey.

She was the very loved special Great Grannie to Olivia Currie, Chelsea Currie, Sydney Kennedy, Ryan McEachern, Larissa Reinheimer, Catherine Melson, Damian Dalziel, Payton Dalziel, Dylan Gruber, Jaiden Prasad, Jaishan Prasad, Jaisal Prasad, Emma Maidment and Wyatt Maidment.

Madeline will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Madeline loved helping anyone she could. She was a very generous person. She will be remembered for her breakfast of famous tea biscuits and cinnamon buns. It didn’t matter what time or day, she always had the time to bake.

Madeline worked at various jobs in her lifetime. Stanley Knights Flooring Factory, Globe and Mills Factory. She worked in a couple different local apple orchards sorting apples, and at Georgian Bay Fruit Growers. She worked at the Meaford Nursing Home. Her nursing home work really showed in the last few years of her living in Lee Manor.

The Family of Madeline would like to thank all the Nurses, Doctors, Nurse Practitioners and all staff at Lee Manor for their wonderful care while Mom was a resident there.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Madeline at Meaford Hall Terrace Room on Sunday January 26, 2025 from 1 to 4 o’clock.

To Barb, Brenda, Allan, Aubrey, & Families: we are so sorry to know that Madeline has passed away. She was my mom’s cousin that we spent the most time with and shared all the special occasions with, both happy and sad over a lifetime. She was a special someone in our family. Please know that our thoughts will be with you on the 26th, but we are unable to attend the Celebration of Life as we no longer live in the area. We send love and hugs to all of you.
