Stuckless, Monika Elisabeth

Monika passed away peacefully at the age of 73, in the loving arms of family on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Meaford Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Monika was born on January 18th 1950 in East Berlin, Germany. She was the daughter of Kurt Bollack and Maria (nee Forhnal), and sister of Wolfgang Bollack (Brunhilde).

The family eventually settled in Soest Germany, where she met Robert (Bob) Stuckless while he was stationed there with The Canadian Armed Forces.

Monika was the loving mother of Gilbert (Crista Deniss), Yvonne, and was predeceased by her cherished son Steven. Omi will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Travis (Brittany), Michael, Jacob, Ryan and Benjamin. Monika was also a very proud Great Omi to Sydney and Savanah.

She will forever be in the hearts of her nephew Mario Bollack and niece Kathi Bollack, both residing in Germany. She will be dearly remembered by her extremely large Canadian family on the Stuckless side. Monika will be missed by her bestie Nik Kie.

We are deeply mourning the loss of the centre of our universe. It is hard to imagine the future without Monika, and it will take time for us to find our way without her by our side. Monika was one of a kind. She meant the world, to not only our family, but to everyone who knew her. She was the life of the party, with a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. She was always funny, even when she didn’t try to be. Her little quirks had everyone in stitches.

So many friends and co-workers have reached out, acknowledging that beyond being the hardest worker they knew, she was a riot and a firecracker. A bright light, with never a shadow in her presence.

Monika had a massive heart for all. She showed that to thousands of troops during her 35 years of service as a bartender at the Meaford Military Base.  She was always taking care of them, always lending an ear to listen, with the understanding of a mother to all. Monika has helped so many along the way and often without even knowing it. Her hard work ethic will always resonate with those who knew her. Monika was our dancing queen, she loved to dance whenever the opportunity presented itself.  She enjoyed her life and always lifted the spirits of those in her company.  She will be missed but never forgotten.

A special thank you to Cindy Dillon from the VON and to the staff at the Meaford Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Monika and her family.

Monika’s family will receive friends to celebrate her life at the Ferguson Funeral Home on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 4 until 7 p.m.  The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 will conduct a service for Monika’s family prior to the visitation.

I will never forget all the good times we had on our Friday night get togethers, playing cards, darts, endless munchies and many many many laughs. Monika will forever be in my heart ❤️
I am so blessed to have known her for all of these years. She had an extremely giving nature and soul.
So grateful that I got the chance to spend some time with her a few weeks ago when I came back to Ontario. It was so hard to say goodbye
But it’s not really goodbye… it is until we meet again

Bob and Family: Bob and I are thinking about you all during this most painful time. I have good memories of Monika….some from Bingo nights, others from the Ambassador Lounge or just around the base. Seems like she was always smiling or laughing. She will be missed.

Thinking of your family as you grieve the loss of a loving woman who was a firecracker. Monika was a kind soul with a big heart, I enjoyed working with her, and commuting back and forth from Chapman, while I worked there. Also enjoyed her company, while in her environment up at the base in the mess. She loved taking care of everyone that was in her radius, she helped so many people in many aspects of her life. I’m blessed to have known her. Hugs

My love to Bob and all the family as you move through these tough times without the rock that held you all together. I still have a multitude of memories from years gone by celebrating our birthdays together and hanging out and playing cards and laughing and talking and drinking – it was all like family. Until we meet again back Home, Monika. You always had my back girl and I had yours too. Love and blessings my friend ❤️

    Mr. Stuckless (Robert) and Family;

It is with heavy hearts that our Personnel Support Programs (PSP) team here at 4th Canadian Division Training Centre to have learned of Monika’s passing. She was entwined into the fabric of the Meaford ‘tank range’ with unconditional commitment to her role in the messes and service to Canadian Armed Forces’ soldiers for over 30 years. Monika excelled in her customer service attributes, and took pride in lending an ear to any Canadian Forces’ member whom needed one, or to share a laugh. Monika’s professional, yet personal touch, adorned her to many, and her presence, enthusiasm and leadership will be deeply missed by all of us.
Rest In Peace Monika, and Thank You.

Having met Monika in the mid 90’s, she was a force to be reckoned with. We worked the night shift at Tim Hortons. It’s amazing what kind of trouble you can get into, what fun, laughter, jokes and great memories with the local OPP. What a great friend who would give you the clothes off her back and do anything for you. She WILL be missed. Let your memories soothe your heart aches and keep family and friends close. Our thoughts are with you.

Bob, Gill and family. I was saddened to hear about Monika’s passing. The memories I have of the many years we bartended together at the base, Wednesday nights at Ted’s, not to mention the shenanigans we got up to at the Legion over the years, those memories will stay with me always.
    Thinking of you all ❤️
