Rapp, Nelson Stuart
May 26, 1934 - July 26, 2024
Nelson Rapp of Meaford, and previously of Oakville, passed away peacefully at the Owen Sound Hospital on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the age of 90.
Born in Fergus, ON on May 26, 1934, Nelson was a son of the late Melvin and Louise (nee Aichison) Rapp.
He was the much-loved father of Morten Rapp (Robin), and will be missed by his brother George.
Nelson was predeceased by his dear friend and partner, Joyce Warfe, and by his brother Murray.
Nelson and his brothers were raised in Oakville, where he worked as a teenager at the family bakery. He later became a taxi driver, which he enjoyed for more than 40 years. He also worked as a counter salesman for auto parts during the day and drove a taxi in the evening. He married Yrsa Rapp in his late 20’s and they had a son, Morten Lars Rapp. In 2008 Nelson moved from Oakville to Meaford to be closer to his son Morten and his family. He met his girlfriend Joyce, who later became his common-law partner. They made each other and those around them vey happy. Nelson enjoyed boating, curling and lawn bowling, where he made many great friends. He also enjoyed Tim Hortons, right up until the end.
Nelson will always be remembered as a light hearted and gracious man who loved to laugh.
Many thanks to the staff at Central Place for making him feel welcome and allowing him to keep his independence up to the weeks before his illness.
Many thanks to the staff at Brightshores for his excellent medical and palliative care. Your kindness during his brief illness was greatly appreciated by the family.
A private family service will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in the near future.
