Crawford, Noel Marcus
Noel Marcus Crawford, 88, made his final dance on May 6, 2020, gracefully bowing out of a life well-lived. He is deeply loved and remembered for his kind heart, cheerful nature, and extensive story-telling.
He was born to Marcus and Anne Crawford on December 29, 1931 in Toronto, ON. Growing up with his older brother, the late Stan Crawford (June), Noel developed a true sense of adventure and zest for life.
He began his career at D.H. Howden & Co. Ltd. in Toronto, ON where he met the love of his life and most cherished dance partner, Ann. Together, they danced through life, raising their three children, Lynn, Randy, and Sharon, owning and operating the Hilltop Motel in Meaford, ON for 22 years, watching their seven grandchildren grow into accomplished young adults, and spending many warm winters at their second home in Maple Leaf Golf and Country Club in Port Charlotte, FL.
Noel was a true champion of his communities, at home and down south. In Meaford, he was widely known for his role in constructing the Big Apple, and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Meaford Kinsmen. At Maple Leaf, he was always on the go. Whether he was square dancing or singing in the choir with Ann, carving beautiful wooden birds, or sharing stories with neighbours and friends, Noel was a man who truly found joy in every day.
Above all, Noel’s biggest joy was his family. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his wife Ann (nee Lyons) of 65 years; his children Lynn Skippen (Bob), Randy Crawford, and Sharon Mountford (John); his grandchildren, Andrew (Lindsay), Beth, Valerie, Sarah, Meagan, Whitney (Brad), and Colton (Heather); his great grandchildren, Ryan, Kellen, and Baby Jacob (who took his first breath a few hours after Noel took his last).
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions a private family visitation and interment at Lakeview Cemetery will be conducted.
As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Meaford Hospital Foundation, where Noel received excellent care from Dr. Benissa and the healthcare workers, would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted. www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

Condolences to Ann and the Crawford family.
Ann and Noel were great neighbors to my Mom, Verna Hodgkinson. Noel made a point of checking in on Mom to make sure she was doing okay. Mom liked to watch Noel feeding the Blue Jay’s from their back deck. Very nice man with a great sense of humor. He will be missed

It was with great sadness
of hearing of Noel’s passing. He and Ann were great friend in Maple Leaf. Noel’s advise to me during my role on the Board of Directors at MLE was very valuable. My many visits at their home in MLE as I was on a walk were always a pleasure.

Ann, Lynn, Randy, and Sharon and families; So sorry for your loss, my memories of your Dad go back to when his father was a resident in the retirement home in Meaford. He would always remember a quick story to chat about every time we met after that. He and Ann were the most graceful dancer, I remember sending people to stay at the motel and how my friends would say ,such lovely hosts we had there, so happy and friendly.
Cherish your memories and God Bless !

Our sincere sympathy to The Crawford family. When my husband and I would visit my Mom, Verna Hodgkinson, Noel would wander over and Francis and him would get into a great discussion. Very good neighbor to Mom and Dad. He was well known far and wide and will be greatly missed

Please allow me to add my sympathies. I met Noel and Ann when I was posted to Meaford in 1973 as a rookie OPP constable. For three weeks, the Hilltop was my home; made more so by the kindness and concern of the Crawfords. Although policing was my work and led me to meet many wonderful people in that region, Noel and Ann were my real introduction to Meaford, and why it was, and is an incredible place to call home. Rest in peace.

Noel & Ann were our friends and next door neighbors in Maple Leaf Estates for 14 years. When we visited Ann & Noel in Meaford, we always had a free room for the night. The room was spotless.
He was a very kind & caring person and took interest in you, not him. He contributed a majority of his time to his Meaford community & Maple Leaf as a leader. He sold more Lobster tickets than anyone
He loved his family always and spoke highly of them. He loved Ann deeply and cared for her for 65 years.
We offer our sincere condolences to Ann & all the family

Noel was a gentleman and a good friend that we met when we owned The Meaford Motel in 1981-1985.
He was a very friendly and helpful guy from The Hilltop Motel and we learned a lot from him during our 5 wonderful years in Meaford.
Rest in Peace.
