Riley, Patricia Carol 'Pat'

Patricia Carol Riley passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Hillcrest Village Care Centre in Midland, Ontario. She was 94 years old.

Born in Meaford, Ontario, on March 26, 1931, Pat was the beloved daughter of the late Tom Riley and Etta Riley.

Pat spent her life dividing her time and affections between the vibrant city of Toronto and her roots in Meaford. She dedicated her professional career to several esteemed organizations, including Shell Oil and The Canadian Jockey Club, before concluding her working years at The Regal Constellation Hotel. Pat lived a life rich with passion; she possessed a green thumb and a deep love for gardening, the adventure of travel, the comfort of a good book, the beauty of horses, and the simple joy of an afternoon spent at Sunnyside Beach. Upon her return to the Meaford area, Pat found a sense of community with the Friends of Meaford Library and the Meaford Lawn Bowling Association.

She will be profoundly missed and cherished by her sister, Lynne Sproule (Greg).  Pat was predeceased by her dear brother, Paul Riley.  She will be remembered fondly by her sister-in-law, Gail Riley (Piper).

Pat was the treasured aunt of her devoted niece, Harmony Wilcox Riley (Shawn Wilcox), and her nephews, Cory Sproule and Jay Sproule.

Pat’s warmth, resilience, and unique spirit will live on in the memories of all who knew her.

A private graveside service of committal and interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Pat’s honour to organizations that were meaningful to her: The Toronto Animal Services North Shelter (416-338-8723) and The War Amps (1-800-250-3030). Donations may also be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON   N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.   www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

My thoughts are with you Harmony, Pat was a force all her own. The Riley’s were special people to my family and Pat was a big part of that. Days spent at the cottage are still in my mind. Remember the good times and smile.

Harmony and Gail – I am sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. I have so many great memories of time spent at Sunnyside with you, Pat and Paul – baking pie for Thanksgiving, learning to play hearts, bonfires on the beach and hearing stories of the Meaford that Pat and Paul grew up in.
