Kammerer, Patricia Dianne 'Pat'

Born in Meaford on November 30, 1942, daughter of the late Douglas and Ellen (nee Bowins) Wade, Pat passed away peacefully at her home in Horning’s Mills, Ontario with family by her side on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the age of 77.

Pat leaves behind her devoted husband, Horst, who tirelessly cared for her during her illness. She will be forever missed by her daughter, Michelle Eissler-Hollmann (Peter), and stepchildren Michele Kammerer (Chris Jeans) and Anita Burnett (Darryl). She was the loving grandmother of Grace, Bridgett, Evelyn, Rylan, Tegan, Trebecca, Joel, Logan, Lucas, and Jaden. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Bob Wade (Gayle), Marlyn Hudson (Tony) Don Wade (Vera), Mary Ellen Thiffault (Mike), Nancy Schope (Ken), and Jean Loucks (Dave). She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Leaving the town of Meaford for the big city, Pat worked for Bell Canada for over 30 years as an operator and then later as a Sales and Service Representative. An adventurous spirit, her love of travel and arts and culture was especially the focus of her later years with Horst as they explored many countries and continents such as China and Africa. She always enjoyed the company of her family and many friends as she spent time visiting and hosting get-togethers. She will be remembered as a fun grandma for her sense of humour and the way she could make the kids laugh. She spent her time fishing and boating at the cottage in Ville Marie during the summer, and socializing on Little Gasparilla Island in Florida for the winter. She always tried to live life to the fullest and appreciate each day. Her vivacious spirit and appetite for life will be well remembered by all who knew her.

A private service will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford with interment following at Lakeview Cemetery.  A celebration of Pat’s life will take place at her home in Horning’s Mills at a later date.

To Pat’s family I send my deepest condolences. Pat and I were best friends in public school from grades 7 to 10 until our paths went in different directions and I went to Owen Sound High School. Every day we walked to school together and enjoyed a lot of fun times after school whether swimming or movies or skating. Sometimes we’d walk along the trail in summer (along the bank of the Big Head River). I wish we could have crossed paths in our older years but it was not to be. We did keep up Christmas cards and notes for many years and I always enjoyed hearing about her daughter who like horse back riding. It was nice to read of all the grandchildren she had and I’m sure they brought her immense pleasure and I know you all will have a lot of great memories. Again deepest sympathies to you all.

To have known Pat is to have loved her. Her kindness, generosity of spirit, positive outlook and contagious smile were things to be cherished not only by her family but also by her friends. She will always be remembered for these very special qualities.
We were fortunate enough to have known Pat and to have loved her and memories of times we spent together will always bring a smile to our faces, which is a true indication of how much she meant to us.

To Horst and family know that so many care and are here for you.
To Pat, our true friend rest in peace.

    With Love
    Barb and Karl

Michelle & Horst, our deepest sympathies on the loss of Pat. She was always so kind and friendly. Neighbours many years ago we watched our children grow. We moved but kept in touch by phone. She will be greatly missed.
May you take some comfort knowing she is in a better land.
