Page, Patricia Reta 'Pat'

Patricia Page of Meaford, and formerly of Toronto, passed away peacefully at her home that she shared with her much loved pet dogs and horses on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the age of 73.

Born in Grimsby, ON on January 16, 1947, Pat was the much loved daughter of Reta Osman (nee North) of Meaford and the late Ronald Osman.

She was predeceased by her cherished husband and best friend Tony Page in 2013.

Pat was the kindhearted step mother of Derek Page (Elvira) of Bolton and Greg Page (Karen) of Mississauga.

She will be missed dearly by her brother Bob Osman and his wife Dawn of St. Thomas, and by her sister Carol Pattison and her husband Terry of Fenwick. She was the wonderful aunt of Sandy Robbins (late Jim) and Patti Vandenbroek (Brian), Christopher Pattison and the late Patrick Pattison (Marie).

Pat was in the first class of women recruits in 1974 for the Ontario Provincial Police and worked for many years as a police officer in Toronto. She was the proud owner of Patti Page’s Tea Shop in Meaford where she would spend much of her time serving and getting to know folks and developing friendships in the community. She truly loved Meaford and being part of the community.  Many years ago Pat arranged to have Patti Page, the singer, come to perform in town. This was definitely a performance that many will remember and quite significant for this small town. Pat has always loved caring for animals and after her husband Tony passed her dogs and horses became very important companions and have helped her through some extremely challenging times.

A private family service will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter (cheques only please) or Meaford Hospital Foundation would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON   N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.

To the Page and Osman family – Pat (and Tony) were long time customers of ours and they definitely did love their animals! Our regular visits at the store were always filled with interesting conversations about their police horse retirement barn and vacation spot. Pat was a lovely person and we were sad to hear of her passing. Take care – From the staff at Bayshore Country Feeds

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Pat’s passing. Kirk and I shared so many great times and laughs with Tony and Pat. We travelled together on many ski trips, had great times out on Lake Ontario on their sailboat, lots of great dinners together and had the best time at 23 CIB dances where we would dance in a line to “New York, New York”. Pat always had us in stitches doing her trick where she could wrap her arm around her neck and touch the opposite ear. Tony and Pat were part of a great love story. They built a wonderful life post retirement in Meaford. I have spoken to Pat several times since Kirk died last year. I know that she missed Tony every day of her life. I will miss them both. My condolences to the family.

Sincere condolences to Pat’s family – I do have fond memories of getting to know Pat and Tony through the locations of the Tea Shoppe, where I could enjoy a pot of tea with a delicious local dessert, and also browse her wonderful books about the British Royal family (especially the section on the Queen’s jockey, Dick Francis [and later a famous mystery writer]), for whom she provided professional security services during part of her career. Learning of their programme to take in retired horses from various police services was also heartwarming. Fond memories indeed, and always treasured…

Patti and Tony arrived at Meaford decades ago around the same time I did. They welcomed me to the curling rink and were a terrific couple who just loved each other and life deeply.

To know each of them was a profound blessing and my thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.

Patty and Tony were well respected in Meaford and will sorely be missed . Patty loved her animals to the end and as a result would not leave them .
I’m sorry I couldn’t do more for Patty but she was determined to stay on the farm and do it her way .

Thank you Derick for looking after things, I’m sure Tony would be very proud of you
