Weaver, Peter Duncan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Duncan Weaver. Peter passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 5, 2024, after a courageously fought battle with cancer.

His loss will be profoundly felt by the loved ones he leaves behind, most significantly by his wife, Carol Fitzgerald, his stepson Scott and his wife Andrea, his stepson Andy, and his wife Jenn. He will be especially missed by his beloved grandchildren, Madison, Payton, and Owen, who lovingly called him Poppy.

Also, Peter will be very much missed by his sister Sue, and her husband Robert and his niece and nephew Cheryl and Craig and their families.  Peter’s lifetime friends of over sixty years Wayne & Valerie will also miss him very much.

Will also be fondly missed by Scott’s step kids, Adam, and Karissa as well as the countless friends Peter met over his 80 years.

Peter was a kind and articulate person, always ready to help you fix a computer technical problem or electrical issue. He had a long and successful career as an Engineer with Falk Canada, for whom he has maintained long-time friendships with many colleagues.  He had a passion for watching hockey, junior hockey in particular.  The Brampton Battalion & Guelph Storm were his favorite teams for many years.  Peter loved watching his grandkids playing any competitive sports.  He was his happiest spending many weekends watching them play hockey, baseball, and volleyball over the years.

We are at peace knowing he has joined his parents Gran and Pop, but he will be incredibly missed by all of us.

A service of inurnment will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. with a reception following in the Terrace Room at the Meaford Hall.

Dear Carol, Scott, Andy and all of the extended Fitzgerald family,

My sincerest condolences and heartfelt thoughts go out to you during this difficult time. Peter was a rock – a wise and calming influence, a beacon of strength for all of you. He was intelligent beyond words and yet never tried to “be smarter” than you. I was also proud to know we shared the same alma mater, even though math and engineering types are not supposed to mix :).

I will miss your gentle giant dearly – may you take comfort in the many memories you shared and made with him as the wonderful man who quietly guided the family for the past 35+ years.

    With much love,
    Greg
