Zapf, Robert Werner 'Bob'

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Werner Zapf shortly after his 70th birthday. Bob passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024 at Chapman House surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Kitchener on August 27, 1954, a son of the late Clara (2018) and Werner (2020) Zapf.

Bob is predeceased by his wife Joan (2019) (nee: Mitchell/Burk), and his sister Johanna (2024).

He was the patient father to Danielle (Shawn), Stephanie (Todd) and Michael (April). Cherished Papa to Jessica, Grandpa to Alexis, Owen and Portia.  Loving brother to Nancy (Doug).

Bob will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his ‘porch buddy’ and good friend Gary along with his closest neighbours as we’ve heard many times over ‘Bob was a great neighbour’.

As a family we would like to share our heartfelt thank you to Dr. Recoskie and April for always providing comfort, care and compassion to Bob. We would also like to thank the Dr’s and nurses at Chapman House, with special thanks to Betty and Nancy who supported Bob through the final days of his journey.

Cremation has taken place with a private family internment to follow.

A private celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Residential Hospice Grey Bruce ‘Chapman House’ would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON   N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.   www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

Very sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I knew him from JDSS in Hanover, then re-connected on Facebook. We were both amateur radio operators. To his family go our deepest heartfelt condolences.
