Doran, Ronald Campbell 'Ron'

Ronald Campbell Doran passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the age of 94. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Virginia ‘Ginny’ Doran (nee Arkley) in 2021.

Ron will be remembered as a storyteller who loved having an audience to share memories of his time spent in Meaford, Vancouver and Toronto. As a young man, he worked for CN Rail and he particularly loved to share stories about his lifelong interest in trains. A graduate from the University of Toronto, Victoria College, he had a 35-year career in data management at North American Life. Ron had a natural affinity towards engineering and enjoyed tinkering and building things for the cottage. He was particularly skilled at small engine repair and could often be seen helping out a neighbour to fix a boat motor. He enjoyed winters in Florida with his wife Ginny but his favourite place to be was at the family cottage on Sunnyside Beach.

Ron is survived by his three sons; Steve Doran (Martha), Rick Doran (Sharon), and Jeff Doran (Lorraine). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Veronica (Scott), Victoria (Ben), Katie, Sean, and his great granddaughter, Gwendolen.

Cremation has occurred and a celebration of Ron’s life will take place at Duxbury Cemetery at a later date.

    To the Doran Family,
I’ve had the great privilege of being Ron and Ginny’s neighbour for approximately 15 years. We respected each other’s privacy and yet, we each knew that if either of us needed a helping hand, that it was readily available. It was a great pleasure to know such a lovely couple. My deepest condolences to the entire family.
    Charlene & Peter.

So sorry for your loss, I did your mom’s hair for many years. Then took over cutting your dad’s hair when Ginny retired from that job. They were a wonderful couple. Sincerely Jean Postings

I have many fond memories of Ron. As my parents were neighbors at the beach, I remember the tinkering and the story telling. He was also a good listener. If he asked how you were he was genuinely interested in your answer. My favorite memory is him with the chipmunks.
I wish to extend my sympathy to the family. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear about Ron. Our sincere condolences to all the Doran family. Many memories, some with the 28 hp Evinrude arriving Saturday afternoons at the Hart cottage. Remember them well. Ron and my dad (Art) always made for a good time.

As a budding Accountant, I enjoyed working with Ron in the IT department sorting Punch Cards and listening to his stories and jokes.
