Nolan, Ronald Douglas 'Ron'
Ron Nolan passed away peacefully at Brightshores Hospital in Meaford with Phyllis (nee Hudson), his loving wife of 63 years by his side.
Born in Arnprior, ON on April 29, 1942, a son of the late William and Teresa (nee Landry) Nolan.
Much loved Dad to Winston Lloyd (Ellen) and Grant Lloyd, and was predeceased by daughters Cheryl Ludwig and Nona Lloyd. Proud Grandpa/Papa to 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Predeceased by grandson Troy Lloyd, brother Joe Nolan (late Norma), and step-sister Leona Foster (late James). Ron will be remembered fondly by sons-in-law Brian Ludwig, Geoff Parr, and by Bill Brummell.
Ron was a father figure to many in his lifetime. He was a man of few words, but when he did speak, he meant what he said. He was kind and wise, and could always be counted on. Over the years Ron has enjoyed healthy competition, playing broomball and baseball, and spending time at the casino and horse track. He helped coach baseball and encouraged everyone to do their best and have fun. He was a horse trainer and looked forward to watching them race at the track.
Ron worked for many years at Globe Mills and Harding Carpet, and was a loyal Union President for both. For more than 23 years, Ron delivered papers for the Toronto Star, Globe and Mail and the New York Times. He loved this job because of the many people he met along the way.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 2 o’clock. A service of committal and interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. All are welcome to attend a reception at the Church of Christ on Nelson Street in Meaford following the interment.

Very sad to learn of Ron’s passing. My deepest sympathy to Phyllis, family and friends. So happy to be long-time friends. Ron was our ball coach when we won the Georgian Bay Ladies’ Softball league championship. I remember well his interest in ‘pigeons’ which made Don happy. Rest in peace!

Phyliss–sorry for your loss. Ron helped us a lot with our horses over many years. He was physically a solid guy but his kind heart was his greatest characteristic. It was unfortunate the amount of suffering he went through after the highway accident. Phyllis, you were his rock through those years.
