McLean, Rose Marie

Rose Marie McLean passed away peacefully at Meaford Long Term Care Centre ‘PeopleCare’ in Meaford on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the day after celebrating her 90th birthday surrounded by her loved ones.

Rose will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 68 years, Doug McLean of Meaford.

She was the much-loved mother of Mike and his wife Jennifer.

Rose was the proud grandmother and great grandmother of Brandon and his son Brody; Alysha Fleming (Matt) and their children Scarlet, Ryker, Ledger and Everlet Fleming; and Ashley Siegrist.

She was the dear sister of Jim Cohen, and was predeceased by 14 other siblings.  Rose will be missed by many nieces, nephews and their families.

Bingo was definitely one of Rose’s favourite games, she also enjoyed playing cards.  She loved getting out for walks in the neighbourhood and could make conversation with anyone she met along the way.  Rose and Doug went on a well-deserved vacation, and Alaskan Cruise which they both thoroughly enjoyed. She absolutely adored her family and was a wonderful mother to her son Mike. Rose was a caring grandmother and great grandmother.  She will certainly be missed but will never be forgotten.

A service celebrating of Rose’s life will take place on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 1 o’clock at the Olivet Baptist Church in Meaford. A reception will follow.

I remember Rose so well looking after the Credit Union bowling league on Wednesday nights when I started back into bowling in 1984 and continued until the late 90’s. Rose and Doug both bowled on Wednesday nights back in the 70’s also. She was a real competitor and an awesome Lady. Dave Brown & Joanne Hill

So sorry for your loss. We lived next door to the MacLean’s all my younger days. I remember when Doug and Rose were married. Always enjoyed a visit with Rose when we met up. Treasure your memories.

My sincere condolences to Doug and the McLean family. I first met Rose at the Amerock. She took me under her wing, made me feel welcome and taught me all her tricks to make quota. Rose always had a smile, she had a genuine love of life and people.
