Maxwell, Scott Paul 'Marty'

Scott Paul Maxwell passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the age of 52.

Born in Meaford on November 19th, 1970, a son of Mikal and Diane (nee Taylor) Maxwell.

Scott shared his life with his best friend and life partner Shirley. He was the proud and loving father of Austin Maxwell and loving step-father to Meagan (Patrick) and Cameron (Brianna) and was the proud freezie-sharing Papa of Hunter and Isla.

Scott was the dear brother of David Maxwell (Jackie) and Greg Maxwell and uncle to Nelson (McKenna) Maxwell and Taylor Maxwell.

He will be fondly remembered by his sisters-in -law, Sharon, Linda, Frances, and their families.

Scott will also be missed by his many lifelong friends, teammates, travel baseball families as well as Guillermo and his Mexican work family.

He was fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside his father, brothers and nephew running the successful four-generation Maxwell Orchards.  You could usually find Scott at Meesters Farm in Collingwood running the fruit stand and making new acquaintances for the last several years. Besides spending time around a good fire with chicken wieners, wings and a good bowl of popcorn, he had a passion for travel and attending sporting events.  He loved his annual Father’s Day fishing trips and Monday night poker.  He had a quiet personality but enjoyed teasing and mocking his friends and loved ones.  After all, he was ranked #1 slow-pitch pitcher in Ontario, you just had to ask him and he would tell you.  Blake Street won’t be the same without Scott’s random Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jays gatherings, cheering, clapping and parades.

A private family service will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford with a private service of committal and interment at Maxwell Cemetery.

All are welcome to a public celebration of Scott’s life at the Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 1 until 5 p.m., with tributes shared at 2 o’clock.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Meaford Foodbank and Outreach to assist youth in sports would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON   N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.   www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

The shared love for our kids and baseball brought Scott and his family into our lives.
On the hot days or the cold days, whether we travelled 1hour or 14 hours…..watching our kids play ball would give us the chance to gather and chat which always ended in laughter.
The brotherhood established through our kids baseball has reached us even as parents both moms and dads.
This will leave a permanent gap in the field but we will do our best to tighten up the gap as parents while we continue to cheer on all of the kids through their journey.
Rest in Peace Scott and thanks for always being willing to fill my cup with a drink or laughter.

Austin, Shirley and family know that you are all in our hearts and that we will always be there to have your backs.

All our best to the Maxwells at this terrible time.
I had just spent a few minutes catching up with Scotty not long ago, made me laugh out loud of course.
    Love Wayne and family
